Enjoy

Please, MINI, don't do it!!!

If I had it my way, they would only produce Coopers. To heck with the Clubman and this "SAV". Enjoy the niche market of people who appreciate "small". Let BMW sell all the other crap.

I've seen this photo several times in the last several months. Rumor has it that it's just a rumor...

The photo may just be a rumor, but the rumored MINI SAV is (sadly, in my opinion) 'for reals, y0'.

I might be in the minority, but I'd consider buying it.

Mini as a company is currently a one-trick pony with only one product offering. It's definitely got product differentiation; IMO, if it's going to not just exist but grow and thrive, it will need product diversification.

As an example, as much as it is to the contrary for Porsche being a sports car company, Porsche needed the Cayenne so that it can keep developing and producing its 911's. I think Mini will be in a similar position. And I'd much rather get the Mini-ute (no pun intended) before I ever consider a Cayenne. Just my 0.02.

Why not just a 4WD Cooper? No need for the supersizing if you ask me. There's a billion other SUV options out there.

Sorry, but the SAV is no Mini in my eyes. At least the Moke was cool.

That's just the point - I'd rather get a "Mini" SUV than the other billion SUV options out there. And I dare say Mini as a car company would rather we buy their products too.

Well, ever since MINI built the coupe all my needs were satisfied. The discussion/rumors of a smaller more fuel efficient MINI gets my attention but little else. Not that I mind really...I just don't personally need a bigger, 4WD MINI.

copying toyota?

Wow that looks like a toyota FJ that some one photoshoped to look better and it does alittle.

They really just need a AWD model of the clubman and cooper to compete in the ute market.

Isn't MINI SUV a bit like an oxymoron though? Would kind of be like the new Hummer Coupe.

I'd rather see a 2-seater roadster Mini.

I personally would not want to see MINI build one.
I understand from a market point of view that everyone wants a piece of the SUV pie. I used to be a big fan of ealier model Audi's, and you probably remember Audi was branded as a 4 wheel "quatto' vehicle, who needs an SUV? type of thing. Audi guys would brag about how much better their cars were, now that image has totally changed.

Where is MINI heading with its brand image? I totaly agree with the idea of making a 4WD coupe or 4WD clubman for that matter..

From my understanding, BMW will quite production of the X3 in the next few years and they want to "bridge the gap" when it's gone. I honestly hope they don't do it, because it would be along the same line as Ford producing the concept 4-door Mustang. Some things should be left sacred...

Cheers

One other reason I hope they don't make it is because it won't be a "Mini" but rather a "Largi"...

: )

Good luck finding a manufacturer who doesn't make an SUV at this point. The fact is, people like SUVs and they sell, so from a business standpoint this may not be the "wrong" thing to do. Just because MINI is expanding their lineup shouldn't make you loose faith. It's not like there is this huge burden to "deal" with MINI and the the existence of an SUV. If you like the MC or MCS great. I include myself in this category. While I agree that this SUV may not be the MINI we know and love, and for that matter not for me at all, it isn't going to make me go out and ditch my MCS.

again, I'm not trying to stir the pot, just throwing my $0.02 in.

... back to the topic that thing makes me want to throw up. Porsche messed up their name with the cayenna, but BMW has other outlets no excuse to screw with MINI. I do like the triumph idea they had in the making, those can sell right along side the MINIs but there is no reason to use a retro brand to be something its not.

I would dig that at a car show or something as a one-off; something you don't see every day. But I can't see that as ever having enough demand to justify a production model. All the 4x4 people would laugh it off and all the Mini people would hate it.
