Momo Shift *****

I would like to change the shift **** of the MCS for something not so bulky, like a Momo Combat Evo, is this possible? Has someone done it before?

There are a few optons for the manual transmission on the MINI. If you want a stainless steel or billiard ball shift ****, the Whalen Shift Machine is the thing to get. http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/

He does custom engraving on the stainless steel ***** and has some with inlaid stone. I use his adaptors to make wooden shift *****.

I honestly can't say for sure, but I would say why not? I have a momo shift **** that has gone through two different cars. It just uses hex screws to hold tight to the shifter. So it is like a "one size fits all" type ****.

This maybe a silly question but I'm new to Mini ownership... I've seen a few posts about changing the Manual shift **** but does anyone know if they make any good aftermarket Automatic shift ***** for the Mini?

+1 for the Whalen!!!!!!

You can pretty much have whatever your heart desires!

I have had many other shift *****, several MOMO, but Whalen is the best by far!!!

Pull on it straight up really hard, and be careful not to hit yourself in the face (or any other sensitive areas).

So the Momo Shift **** would just attach to the shifter via screws? Does the Whalen **** attach in the same way? with screws?

I had the Momo shift **** on my WRX. The first one was universal. The second one was actually made for the car. The universal one just pushes straight down over the shifter and is held in place by two/three set screws that you tighten directly into the shaft with the supplied allen wrench. That's what holds it in place. Mine worked fine until they came out with one that actually screwed right onto the shaft. They are nice shift *****.

The Whalen ***** have a sleeve that lifts up and then as you slide it onto the shifter you let go of the sleeve and it clicks into place.

If you are familiar with the quick-release mechanism on compressed air hoses, the Whalen adaptor works in a similar manner. A stainless steel sleeve slides up allowing six tiny ***** to retract. You then slide it onto the shift lever shaft until a plastic cross rod snaps into the slot on the shaft. Releasing the sleeve than causes the ***** to protrude into the groove on the shaft, holding it in place.

The adaptor is machined from stainless steel and very nicely done. It is a lot more sophisticated than set screws and is specifically designed for the shaft on the MINI. Most other cars use threads on the shaft. So a universal adaptor is not going to be ideal for the MINI.

Here is a photo of the Whalen adaptor that I use in wooden *****. He uses this with his billiard ball *****. The brass piece is glued into the billiard ball or wooden **** and threads onto the stainless steel adaptor.

The adaptor slips over the MINI shift lever shaft. A plastic cross rod snaps into the notch on the MINI shaft.

This is what one of my ***** looks like. In this ****, the adapor is almost completely hidden. You would put the adapor on the shift lever shaft, then screw the **** on.

The Whalen stainless steel ***** are press-fit onto the stainless steel adapor, rather than threaded. So, the adaptor becomes part of the ****. You would put them on the same way you put the adaptor on.
