Bottom door seal

I saw this mentioned over on Mini2 and wondered if anyone has done the fix. Apparently newer R56's do not have a weather seal that appeared on earlier models. This explains the water that appears on the door sills after washing. There are holes at the bottom of my door to accept the seal. Here is the RealOEM info:

Part 51767146093 (GASKET BETWEEN DOOR AND ENTRANCE FRONT
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=41&fg=40&hl=9

Can an order be placed from RealOEM or is it just a reference?

Thanks. I wonder if the Mini dealer here in town would have them.

It's not so much that they need replaced as they just don't seem to be included any more on newer builds. I think I'll go to the dealer and see how many on the lot have them.

jw34...keep us posted. I'd like to know that too. I don't have those either on my car. I just got it 2 weeks ago. I looked last night and sure enough there are holes/slats for it but no rubber. Let me know what you find out. Thanks.

Update: I went to the dealer and they were on every other car on the lot. I had the Service Dept order me a set. When they come in I will go in and they are going to install them for me. All under warranty of course

Did they give you a Mini part number on the weather seal? I am missing it as well. Thanks.

aem421- I haven't had a chance to go to the dealer myself but it's good to know they are going to take care of it for you. I hope they are good to me too.

I finally went to the dealer today and they said I was the first to bring this up. They are going to order two for me. Some of the cars in the showroom had them and some didn't.

Must have been speed reading or maybe I blinked and missed the part number. Thanks!

Yeah...nice. I'm waiting for mine to come in. Hopefully this Friday. I'll take some pics so everyone knows what we're talking about. I was talking to Kurt on Saturday at Mach V Mini and he didn't even realize that he didn't have them either.

Yeah, some pics would be cool. I think I have the seals on both doors. But, strangely, my driver side still gets some water drops on the door sill after a wash or heavy rain. Not a lot, but enough that I noticed after yesterday's rain storms.

OK. Like I said, I think I got them, but not definite. A pic would confirm it for me. I'm curious now.

So this seems to be a purposeful design change and not a goof?

I doubt it. Without that strip I am hearing air noise at the bottom of the door. I am also getting a fair amount of water on the door sills after I wash the car. I'll take some pics before and after and report back on the differences.

That would be great. I hate all that freaking water there.
