Do you have the rubber strips at the bottom of the doors?

Same here. Is this a recognized problem at the dealer or will it require some arm-wrestling to obtain a fix?

The only way to know is to ask at your dealer. Include the MA, but get the service department involved and check out other Minis on the lot. As I mentioned no one I talked to knew about it.

Here's a pic of what I was talking about...

The red lines are where the rubber strip is supposed to attach. I'm still waiting for the dealer to call me. They are on order. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what's going on. I'll post pics after they are installed.

I wondered if you got them yet. I called my MA today just to make sure he placed my order.

I have those weather strips and water still shows up on the door sills after washing!

The gaskets are missing on my MCS, too. Prod Week 33. I'll mention this to my MA when I drop by to get my license plate tomorrow.

Week 32 Build

And missing my seals. I'll call Tate and have them order them. Car has been pretty bulletproof so far. I'm not noticing the wind noise but then again maybe I'm partially deaf or not driving fast enough because I'm mostly in the city all the time.

Yeah, the wind noise is very subtle. I can only hear it because I do all highway driving on the way to work. That, and I turned the radio off one morning just to listen for any noises. It's more road noise than anything. Probably just my imagination.

Can someone post a pic of what they look like installed? I need to show my MA that what I want exists . . . The water spots are annoying and I can't imagine how dirty it will get in winter.

If you're making a trip to the dealer, just open the door to any car on the lot and see if they are there. Every one that I opened had them installed. I'll post a pic after I get them installed. Who knows when that'll be as I'm waiting for them to come in.

You can also go to the first post of the thread and go to the realoem site that is linked. There is an exploded view with the seal listed (#5). The part number for it is what they need to order. This page helped my MA and service manager.

Has anyone had success in getting the dealer to install these?

I just received my MCSa (week 37 build) and it did not have the rubber strips. My MA said he would ask the service manager and get back to me.

I let me MA know to check for these seals during prep before I take delivery. We'll see if it came with them (week 34 build).

Is this the high pitch whine noise? My DH was going NUTS trying to figure out where the noise was coming from, but he was the only one in the car that could hear it. Then the noise changed pitch - and all 3 of us could hear it. Once it went back to the higher pitch, again only he could hear it. (Good ears!) Wasn't sure if this could be door seal or something else - from the front seat we found the noise coming from somewhere behind us.

Ahh, ok, I do have them. But, I still get water after rain or washes.

Well that's kind of a bummer. I was hoping the strips were a fix. I wonder if they help with road noise at all.
Hey Spectral Glider, take them off and get on the freeway and see if you notice any difference.

Yeah, sure, sure!

But seriously, I wonder how hard they are to install. Almost looks like they should pop on relatively easy. Then again, what do I know. I've never even seen an assembly plant in person.

I'm hoping they pop right in. But just wait, it will probably turn out that the dealer will need the car all day to reinstall software!

I bought a couple cheapo videos of parts of the assembly ( https://www.northamericanmotoring.co....php?t=110118& ). The sunroof seal and the hatch seal are pressed on by hand. The sunroof seal also gets pushed into place with a roller or similar tool once it is pushed on by hand. I bet that bottom door seal pushes on by hand also.

I doubt it is too easy, otherwise they would just fall out. So, I am guessing a fair amount of pressure is required.

Alright, mine are in at the dealer. I'll check back to tell what I find out after I get them installed.

I am glad I ran into this thread, I am taking in my tomorrow for the horrible wind noise and I'll ask about the seals...
