R56 Great gas mileage in my MCS!!!!
Great gas mileage in my MCS!!!!
I just returned from my round trip to Seattle from Portland (to watch the Mariners Lose
) I was pleasantly surprised to find myself geting better gas mileage than I expected. I went through 9.3 gallons for the trip, I calculated 38 mpg, that included being stuck in some rush hour traffic as well as after the game traffic. Once on the highway I reset the computer, when I arrived in Portland computer said 40 mpg for highway travel. This was achieved at a cruise control speed of about 66 mph. Of course for twisty road driving I don't concern myself with gas mileage. I just have fun
but it is nice to know that the mcs does better than expected.

I live in a rural area so my daily driving is on those types of roads with my mcs where I'm averaging about 35mpg. So far on interstates I'm getting about 40mpg running at 75 mph ( for the most part ). I'm very pleased with the overall fuel economy for such a fun car. Of course when I'm really having fun on the mountain roads around here the mpg suffers but who cares.
Just picked up my 56S 5 days ago. My odometer checks within 1% accuracy. I have filled it three times. The OBC mileage calculation is also within 1% of the manual calculation. Highway mileage at 75 mph has been right at 37 mpg. Mixed driving was 30mpg. The mixed driving includes a little time with the sport button on and pushing her very hard. The highway mileage was sport button off and left in 6th except for getting to the interstate and getting up to speed. Not bad for a car with < 800 miles on it.

Three trips to the gas station in 5 days - you are one little busy guy.... wait, just reread you post - less than 800 miles and still three trips to the gas station???
I guess I should not have counted the dealer filling it before I picked it up. Dealer fill, one fill at about 400 miles and topped off at about 550 miles. At just under 800 miles it's reading slightly over half full.
After 10000 miles my computed overall milage is 32.21 MPG. Darn good, and I am certainly not driving to achieve max economy.

I thought as long as I got roughly the same mpg as I got with my 05 MC in the very mixed driving I do I'd be happy but it seems as though the R56 MCS will significantly beat that. It looks like I'll use less gas to go further meaning less refuels meaning less money spent meaning that the car will actually help pay for itself.
