I am going to the NC mtns once I get my car....

Aside from driving on the blue ridge parkway anyone have any suggestions about where I should take my brand new mini? I will be in the area around Boone and blowing rock.

This is a FANTASTIC stretch - worth going a little out of the way for...

Just looking at all the curves on the map makes me excited I will have to work that into the trip that looks great! Are you here in NC?

Yep - I'm near Raleigh.

Actually - if you're driving from the Charlotte area - if you can take this route either on the way to Boone or on the way home, you can tack on the other end of NC 80, from the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Marion area - the last couple of miles up to the BRP from the south is the stuff of legend... Here's that section:

whole route is here:

A friend of mine posted this on our motorcycle forum:

US 321 north from Lenoir or south from Blowing Rock
NC 268 (a scenic byway) east stop at W. Kerr Scott Reservoir and take in the scenery.
268 will intersect NC 18 in Wilkesboro OR take Hwy 16 north to Miller’ Creek and turn east just north of Miller’s Creek Elementary School. To Hwy 18. This avoids downtown Wilkesboro.
NC 18 north to Sparta
US 21 north to Independence VA
US 58 west to Damascus VA. In Damascus after 58 takes a 90 degree turn left, go three
blocks and take another left
S. Shady Ave south. After two miles this will become TN 133
TN 133 to Shady Valley where the general store is trying to become another Deal’s Gap
calling the road the “Striped Snake” instead of “The Dragon”. It’s a nice place to stop and the folks are friendly.
US 421 south (and if you like Deal’s Gap………..you’re in for a treat) to Mountain City
TN 67 west. {A nice 18 mile ride through Doe Valley}
US 321 east. (be careful when making this left turn…on coming traffic has right of way This stretch of road has wonderful sweeping curves like the Cherahola
US 421 south (421 and 321 run together)……….If you are tired take 321 back to Lenoir
If you haven’t had enough curves ride less than a mile and take NC 194south
NC 194 south to Newland………(the Mast Store in Valle Crucis makes for a nice stop).
NC 181 south (what a ride this is!)…………..about 25 miles at large white church on left, turn left
Brown Mountain Beach Road east. It will become Adako Road
NC 90 east (right)
US321A north back to US321
Note: If you miss Brown Mountain Beach Road just follow 181 into Morganton and take NC 64 back to US321

If you want a beautiful but less challenging ride use Hwy 268, 18, the Blue Ridge Parkway, 181 and 64. This is about 150 miles in length.

If you ever get to north Georgia, give a holler and I'll show you the pig trails we have.

That's ok, I went in a Argosy 30 ft RV. I was never worried about doing a doughnut in it after the victory lap.
