How long does it take to get on a truck?
Anybody else experienced waiting more than two weeks from arriving to port to get onto a truck? My Mini arrived in Charleston on the 7/13/07, and as of today I am still not loaded on a truck!
Many people I have met on NAM had cars built at the same time as mine and were even on the same ship from Oxford, and they're already motoring. Some cars were even completed the week AFTER mine and have been delivered!
This is excruciatingly painful! :impatient
I'm really starting to think my Mini was damaged during shipment, and my MA just won't own up to it.
There are several Minis that have caught and passed me, even stopping at my dealership on the way to deliver cars in other states!

mine left in 2 days. A friend of mine had his stuck there for over 2 weeks.
He had VPC installed fog lights. VPC installed options do slow progress.
They do seem to be very slow proceesing cars right now. Sorry to hear it.

If by some unfortunate event it did get damaged, they have to disclose the damage if the damage exceeds 3% of the value of the Mini. 3% really isn't all that much, on a $25,000 vehicle 3% is $750 so don't be worried about them not disclosing damage.
There was a new owner this spring in Florida who waited something like a month before his car was released from the VDC. Turned out the factory forgot to include a liner for the glove compartment.
They had to send another one from the factory, instead of releasing the car and mailing it to him.
It could be something as simple as that. Good luck on getting your car soon.

My MA said that it can even depend on when it's loaded on the ship. He said that if it's the first on, it'll be the last off, and that can easily add a week to the delivery time.

When the MA goes to his magic computer and puts in a vehicle status request, he gets a page that can be printed. It has a series of events which are dated. Sorry, I threw the one away that my MA let me have, but when it comes to the VDC, a work order event is initiated. Then there's a completion for that, and the final date was titled "released to carrier." That means the work at the VDC is done. When it leaves the holding lot is another case, but it took mine about 5 days from that date to here on the lot at "the other Metroplex dealership." That was on Monday, and mine won't be ready until this Monday due to a little parts issue on the driving lights installation. But, as you know, at least I've seen it! I feel for you, ucbrother. So, I guess you might ask exactly what is on the vehicle status request, line for line. I might be suspicious if he wouldn't at least show you. Maybe my guy bent a rule by letting me see the report?

Work Order Printed: 7/19/07
Received at VPC: 7/20/07
Process Confirmed: 7/24/07
Ship from VPC: 7/26/07
Dealer Delivery: 7/29/07
But as of yesterday, the 26th, the trucking company on this report did not have a record of my VIN, which only adds to my frustration!
1 obsolete : to open up
2 a : to expose to view b archaic : HATCH c : to make known or public <demands that politicians disclose the sources of their income>
I would need to double check the video where that information is presented but I'm 99.9% positive they weren't talking about the dealership.
I guess this illustrates how two people can see or read the same thing and have different interpretations of what they saw/read.

Now, back to ucbrother
. The shipping company may be slow to update their system. I wouldn't get worried unless it doesn't arrive at the dealership on the 29th.

Don't feel bad. Some of us had cars sitting at port for almost a month. Mine arrived in the US in late Jan, but didn't get it till Feb 27th due to the whole "launch" thingie. They originally told me that I'd have it on the launch date of Feb 17th...and I had already sold my car so I was ride-less at the time

Supposedly it's just a scratch. That's all I know. No updated ETA.
