You need to talk to your dealer. When I ordered, my MA told me that the wiring harness is custom made to match your options. So, it is impossible to add some features later because there is no wiring for them. I'm not sure if this applies to the MFSW.

Yes, you can get them to add it on. The cost may be prohibitive, Somewhere in the $800+ range. Sadly, I haven't seen any aftermarket systems either.

It can be done. But it will cost a small fortune and the count of things that could be borked in the process is very high.

I disagree, I've been looking in the service manuals, navi is the BIG difference in wiring harnesses. I'd be willing to bet that all you would need is to hook up the multifunction steering wheel inserts, and possibly do some software encoding to tell the car you have them, and then there you go. Pretty sure your salesman is full of crap, bmw wouldn't make individual wiring harnesses for individual options. Navi is the only wiring harness difference I've noticed from part #s. There are some other subharnesses that are added but nothing deleted really.

My $.02,
Josh

That sure makes it sound easy; is this really a viable option? Anywhere I can find a system like this (a quick Google search doesn't turn up much info)?

They can retrofit mfsw. Some who inadvertently were delivered cars without their mfsw in that mess up have had them retrofited. One recently reported in this forum that the retrofit wasn't working properly.

For my two cents I would buy the car with the MFSW factory installed. I too had a car delivered without and and did not accept it and reordered.

I just had mine swapped, because it was accidently omitted from my build. So yup, they can do it, its not hard, but it will probably still cost a lot. FYI they had to replace not only the steering wheel, but the wiper/directional control unit behind it, and they had to re-flash the entire software package.

And I was the one that Glangford mentioned that got it back and it was not working. The cruise was not working, and that was what prompted the complete flash. The first time they only flashed the software for the MF items, and it did not work.
