I finally got it!! ITS AWESOME!! couple questions
I finally got my mini! YAY!, its is amazing i love it, it handles like it on rails it goes like stink, its much much better than i thought it was going to be. i picked it up yesterday from boston and drove it up the highway to southern maine, got home with 85 miles already on the odo, today i have 150 and have only used 3 of the notches of the gas gauge. My god Back roads are amazing, the handling is sublime, i very much spanked it today. which brings me to my questions, 1. How easys should i be taking it. i was going pretty fast today, i never redlined it, i for the most part kept it under 5k but it might have went over a couple of times. how bad is that? 2. the suspension, brakes and tires? how easy should i be going on those? the bends were freaking sweet but it was near the limits. i dont know how hard you can push this thing, but if theres a limit i may have reached it already. 3. full throttle? my friend thought he could lose me, so i had to put the pedal to the metal. well long story short is it bad to take a new car with that many miles up to 116mph? truthfully i love the car and want to baby it but its so darn hard to, it loves to go fast, i just dont want to hurt it so any input would be Greatly apreciated. and as untill i hear from some experienced owners i'll take it easy tonight. but earlier today was f****** awesome. - Motor on

Really - take it a little easy. 4500RPMs or less - best is 4000 or less I think... for 1200 or 1250 miles.
If you drive it harder, you will NOT kill it - but you MAY reduce it's longevity a bit... depending on how long you plan to keep it, this may be your problem, or may be someone elses...
Different opinions, but the one I side with is varying throttle, including some fairly good throttle application (within rpm limits) is better for seating rings.
Aside from the very initial tire scrubbing to get the moulding release off, you shouldn't have to brake in suspension or tires. By the time you do that, your brakes are bedded too.
You might not want to be talking about superlegal speeds much on the board-it's frowned upon.
Glad you're enjoying the ride! It only gets better!

It is under 4,500 RPM and under 95 mph for the first 1,200 miles.

you might want to back it off a bit. There are other items in the drivetrain that need to break in. 200 miles on a car would not allow for complete tire break in, brake bedding etc.
I doubt you did it any harm if that excursion into high revs/high speed was short lived.
Vary your speeds/revs. Build up your peaks as you approach and excedd 1200 miles. I have 800 miles now and I can feel the engine getting stonger.

Yeah you should keep it under 4000k and vary your speed from (not in any particular order) 65, 70, 60, 75, 65, etc. Try not to keep it at one speed for awhile. Doing this just prolongs the life of the engine by progressively breaking it in.
Oh and congrats on your car! Looks really good.

Great looking MINI. Nice color combo.
Your manual (or MA) should have told you about the RPM/MPH break in. Mine say/said the same thing - Keep under 4500 RPMs (or 85-90 MPH) for the first 1250 miles. Vary speeds throughout the band/range. 116 MPH, eh?
I'm guessing you just misread that...new dials and all.

alright guys, thanks for the input, it is greatly apreciated, i was thinking about it tonight and yea i had my fun for now, but now im going to take it easy from now on, but i have heard that varying speeds and rpms is good too, but in the last two days its gotten enough of that.
oh yea that Nh drag way is wicked fun, guess i wont get to vist again for a while
thanks, it is beautiful i cant stop looking at it, this morning i couldnt go 5 min without looking at it while at work

That's a really nice looking car, and it's hard to keep it sane when you first get it. I got stopped twice the first month I had mine (no warnings or tix, I use the old "I just got this new car" line both times). Go for it!
Very sharp
Nice CR, I do like that LL. Your MINI is sharp, keep it sharp with a spirited break-in for 1200 miles. The short run you took will not hurt it, unless you thrashed the revs a few dozen times. My MA said varied speeds, don't exceed 4500 RPM or 100 mph, note the 'or'. Legal speed in most of the roads in Colorado range from 55-75, the twisties go from about 10-55, so....
I had a hard time initially with the 4500, but it becomes a mantra. I have a little over 1000 on scooter, it has been hard but the MINI will be better for it. Most places you don't need the speed, it's all about twisties.
Enjoy and congratulations, very nice MINI with great MINI roads in your neck of the woods.

I'm with dwjj on spirited breakin. No real need to run much over 4500-5000 rpms anyway as the power starts to taper off. Your ear/butt can be trained to not exceed 4500(by too much)! Shift @ 4500 and repeat and you'll be in lock-up speeds(if caught) anyway. Frankly, I did the same kind of initial run for over 250 mi, just kept it a little slower. Still used the right pedal really hard. Still do and am hoping to not get a ticket. You didn't hurt anything.
These cars are amazing. Keep using it, change the oil, repeat.

Congrats on the new car. Looks just like mine on the outside. I am still in the break in period and have a hard time not letting the car jump into the high rpm range, but have so far kept it under control. Have fun with it, but do be careful. And if your going to drive it 116 mph, try to keep it south of the border.

Great car! Hope you have many good (s)miles!!!MINI says 15,000 (!) miles before you change your oil, but a lot of people here change after breakin, and on their own every 7500 miles. Something to keep in mind. (Plenty of threads on it... use a good synthetic Mobil1 or Castrol for instance)
WTG & Congrats on your new CR MINI!
Take your time with the break-in and watch your RPMs & speed.
You want that little puppy to last don't ya!
OK that being said, enjoy your MINI and Motor Safe cause ahead of you lie many miles and smiles as you travel down life's highway in your MINI!

Great build. I really like the upholstery and interior build. The Piano Black, Red Colorline, Lounge Leather and Chrome trim look exceptional together. Just very, very rich-looking. Lot's of character.
And your choice of exterior color/trim couldn't have been better!
Good luck with your new Mini and try to go easy on it for a few thousand miles.
