I wonder if it still says mine is awaiting transport. Last time I looked, which was 2 weeks after I had the car, that's what it said.

How do they get off with taking a day off when we are all waiting for the news Deacon is on the truck or at the dealer.

Guess we can wait a few more, we've been waiting this long.

Everyone appears ready. Gary's pup is on the mend, flaps are not flapping but doing their job, I guess you could call them stone flaps.

I've been off attending to Jeep things today, funny how our kids can find screws to put into a tire, daughters Liberty. The boys Jeep GC is finally done, hopefully he will keep it in good repair for the next 3 or 4 years, sure looks good with all the new paint on the front half of the car.

I think it is time to run off to Starbucks with scooter. I'm thinking the long way about 6 miles, but the Starbucks is only down the hill.

Everyone have a good weekend, Deacon has to be just about cooked.

They do cook the new paint, right?

 

 

Speaking of cooked, it was another hot day in Carmel Valley. I got the left side panels back on my MCS yesterday and was going to work on the right side Dynamat today, but got distracted.

We had a canyon fire here not too long ago...Blair's house was at risk. Scared the **** out of me. All we could do was pray, and bring our truck over to load them up quickly if the call came. That was a tough day...after the SD fires 3 years ago...it's just too real and happens too quickly.

 

Geez Robin, I love the view from your house, but not that view.

I do hope you stay on the right side of the wind, I do have to add, those are pretty neat pictures, just not the right circumstances. Be safe.

How far are you from the coast, do you see ocean in your far view or more hills?

The fire photos were from about 1:00 PM. I just went out to take a look and the aircraft are still circling, but there is no smoke. Looks like it is just a mop-up now.

I'm eight miles down Carmel Valley Road from Hwy 1, just before Garland Park (which is covered in fog in the above photo).

 

I think you posted a similar picture somewhere or the same picture, Like I said that is the view I love. This picture makes me want to get back near the ocean or visit more than a couple of times per year.

Wow Robin... That wouldn't be a nice sight to see from anywhere, but I can't imagine from my house... Do keep us posted. Hope they get it under control ok!

 

Actually, last year's fire was more worrying. It was just down the hill from me. If it had come up the hill, the only way out would be to foot it across the hills, or get a helicopter rescue.

Wow Robin, sorry I didn't see your earlier posts, I was kind of absorbed in stuff.

Glad to hear that things look to be contained, you have some gorgeous country there and it's a shame to see it burn. I am glad to hear that you feel safer.

 

Thanks. Fortunately, we have a really good fire team here. Los Laureles Grade tends to have fires frequently. Some idiot tossing a lit cigarette from a car, burning yard cuttings without a permit, construction vehicle without a proper spark arrestor... So the teams are well rehearsed.

 

So, uhhhh, I feel so guilty for withholding information from you guys....but I'll recover.

I couldn't tell you this afternoon because I didn't want to jinx the financing, trade-in negotiations, or paperwork signing....

...at 1:15 this afternoon Mike got "THE CALL". He was SO excited....he was screaming into the phone at me.

His hands were shaking, his heart was pounding, and he sounded something like DEACONISHEREHESHEREOMGHESHEREANDWECANGOGETHIM.:sly :

At 2:00 he finally took lunch...and was so excited, he put a vending machine sandwich in the microwave and left the mayo packet inside the sammich. KAAAABOOOOOM!

Anyway...we promised our West Coast MINI a birthday party, and thus, they shall have one. All the paperwork is signed, Deacon looks AMAZING, there will be balloons and a BIG bow....and many of our WCM family to celebrate the OFFICIAL key handover (though Mike did bring home a key tonight to sleep with). It was almost impossible to pull him away from Deacon tonight...but there was no way we were bringing him home and robbing Deacon, our friends and family, and ourselves of the very special party planned at the dealership tomorrow morning at 9:30. It's going to be something to remember...as has been this entire experience.
