Wow, there's a lot of love on this thread... Makes me actually want to be in the states so I could meet you all. Well, maybe one day.

I could do it on vacation, but I don't think they would allow me to bring J.E. on the plane... Maybe I will talk someone in my family into buying an MCS, and then I will drive it while I am on vacation... I think that is how I will have to do it The other option is to jump in J.E. and drive across the ocean, but I don't think he can swim yet. Ohhhh the agony of it all.

Emily,
You are so right the banter on this thread is priceless.

If any of you ever make it to Germany, and you need a place to hang your hat, my home is always open!

Mike and Tigs have a safe trip.

We *MUST* keep this thread alive....

Roll call of people not going to MITM.

Gary, other than out motoring, you are still here, yes?
Robin, yes?

Hmm, if we knew their route, we could try and track Mike & Tigs.

Holding down the fort here in WA! Awaiting delivery of my baby, who won't arrive until sometime late September.... *taps fingers*

Emily - you didn't stick a tracking chip on Tigs? Well, shoot. We'll just have to guess as to where they are.

Some of us don't have far to go. I will be driving up on Thursday taking the Western Dragon C103 both ways, then over to Copper for the opening festivities. So I will be around to support the supporters for a day or so.

Tigs and Mike should be getting into Grand Junction, Colorado today. I'm not sure if they were going to come across AZ then up Western Colorado or up I15 from SD, Las Vegas and across Utah. It will be a interesting to see what they write up about their drive.

Nice to see everyone keeping an eye on Deacon's progress. Does anyone know where the Carmen is at this time?

Nice. I wasn't sure if it would get back onto their system (sailwx) since they are still somewhat close to the coastlines coming up from Panama.

Waiting is very hard, but worth it. I can only say that now that I have my baby, but that doesn't mitigate the torture of longing for your MINI.

I would have stuck a chip on Lil'Tiger if I had time off from work to drive the 504 mi. each way from the Bay Area to San Diego and back. If I had time for that, I'd just meet up with them at MITM.

Awwww.

This is like the age old question... is it really "better to have loved and lost than to never love at all"

After having a MINI can you ever go back?

I'm already dreading when I'm going to take my MINI to get the wheels replaced. Hoping its just for the day and they give me a MINI to drive.

Robin, sorry your MINI is away, how long?

Emily, Is it a tire and wheel swap or are they going to use your tires on new wheels (correct wheels, you ordered)? I take it you cannot hang around for the 2 hrs this may take for the swap.

Deacon and his ship seems to be making good progress.

Gary, is your car still in the shop getting armor plated?

I have to go vacuum scooter before I get distracted again.

Not sure how they'll be handling it... my MA called today to see how things were going and asked if anyone from service had scheduled it yet. I said no, and he said they should be contacting me in the next day or two. I'm not really in a hurry other than seeing Sam just as I had configured him.

I'm driving anyone I talk to nuts going on and on about Sam: He's getting more fun to drive every day, he handles great, has a buttery smooth tranny, is drop-dead gorgeous (err, handsome), Just plain fun!!

Emily, now that is what we love to see. True love. Enjoy SAM. Yes, 'handsome' is a more PC description. :-)

Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder.

I've had to go back to driving my 1990 Integra. It is odd how fast one adapts to a new car. I'm reaching in all the MINI places for controls in the Acura that I have used for 18 years.

I'm already dreading when I'm going to take my MINI to get the wheels replaced. Hoping its just for the day and they give me a MINI to drive.
I wonder if MINI will send it across the street to that big wheel place to have the work done. I'd expect them to take your tires off and put them on the new wheels.

When I took it in Monday they said probably early next week. I was expecting to hear from them by now as to whether they found anything damaged underneath the bumper.

Robin, give them a buzz, that way you will know if it extends your MINIs stay at the shop. I hope not.

Emily, all vacuum'd, Thank you.

Anyone know the status of Mike's baby and/or the ship. I may have to print out a report for them before I drive up in the AM.

Yes, I got her back yesterday evening. I'll need to wash and Zaino her again tomorrow. It's kind of funny, the shop commented about how well waxed she was (they had to strip the wax off in order to apply the armor plating )

Yes, well waxed will probably cause the 'plate' to lift. Sounds like they did it right. Now you can relieve some MOCD.

Glad you have your MINI back and can spend some time driving and enjoying.

When you Zaino, do you apply over the clad just like it is the painted surface?

Do you use a power buffer for your detailing, not sure I have seen one of your posts mentioning a PC.

Go have some fun.

See you all later or Thursday night after I get down from the mountain. If I get the chance and get a picture of the SD crew I will post it here.

The screen capture Emily posted is still the most current capture from sailwx. The Isolde took about 6 days 8 hours from the time she went off from AISLive in Panama until she was back on their system again approaching CA.

If the Carmen sets a similiar speed she should be back on the AIS system sometime early on the 14th (I think anyway, I missed when she went off from the system after leaving the Canal but that should be fairly close)
