I'm so anxious about waiting for Gary to posts pics and his experience about picking up Demi that I'm pacing....and yet, Mike passes out on me.

Emily and I have just been sitting here, totally calm, knowing that Gary and Demi need some bonding time...understanding of the fact that he wants to drive her rather than come share his joy with those of us still classified as owners-in-waiting. :impatient

If I were Gary, I wouldn't be rushing home to post pics. I'd be out carving canyons. When I picked up my MINI I drove the 90 miles home and then needed to go to the post office. Once that was done, the MINI didn't head NW to home, it went SE out Carmel Valley Road and didn't stop until Arroyo Seca. That's about 40 miles of windy road, and I'm not talking about the weather.

I'm currently in the process of putting in Dynamat Extreme. I've also ordered some cotton Acoustic Thermal Insulation Batting and VIBRA PADS.
I'll be putting a floor over the pit where the seats were stock. The VIBRA PADS will go between the floor and the two cross braces that it will rest on. The boot area will be much as it was stock, but with Dynamat under the stock lining material.
The cotton batting will go in the cavity where the 6x9's came out, under the side panels, and in the seat cavity under the floor.
At the front of the floor, just behind the back seats, will be a barrier to keep cargo from coming forward. It will consist of a cabinet that is about 6" deep and spans the width of the car (or most of the way). In the center will be two speaker boxes to hold a pair of Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6"x9" 3-way car speakers -- replacing the 6x9's in the side panels.
The reason for moving the speakers is because I plan some sort of removable cover for the cargo area so everything below window level can be hidden. It will either consist of removable panels, or a tonneau cover. This would muffle the 6x9's in their stock location.
The cabinet will also have compartments for things like glasses, MINI hat, flashlight, tire repair kit, air pump, etc.
