Tire pressure question

Looking through my manual (p 90) it says 33psi for the MC no matter what tire. For the MCS is says 33 for the 16", 36 for the 17", and 38psi for the 18". On my doorjamb there's a sticker that says 38psi. I have the 17" Dunlaps.
Question is: why 3-5psi lower pressures for the same tires on the MC? It can't be much lighter.

The MC comes with 16", doesn't it? So, 33 psi. I'm more curious about the 17" MCS listing of 36 in the book and 38 on the door jam. I think I ended up running 37.

The manual lists 33psi for 16/17/18" tires for the MC. That's what I can't figure out, why a lower pressure for that model, and different pressures for the 3 tire sizes for the MCS. Makes no sense to me, that's why I asked our forum members to comment. I've been running 33 myself, because it's hot here.

16" wheels on my MCS

I run 37 psi on the front tires and a little lower on the rear. This seems to be a good pressure for the way I drive. It balances wear, handling and ride. I've tried between 33 and 40psi. Anything less than 37 and the tire seems to wear too far past the shoulder on the front tires.

I'm running 37 on the fronts, and 36 on the rears....but I'm running non-runflats. Handling & ride are great, I agree that the specs are conflicting.

It is based on presumed buyer preferences. It is presumed that those who purchase the MC prefer a less harse ride, or conversely, the MCS is expected to have a harder ride. If you don't fit that statistic, don't get mad at me... it's MINI's idea.

I have the MC with 15" wheels non runflats. I just went out and checked the tire pressure. 45psi all around. So much for dealer prep. Door sticker says 33psi. EDIT::: I have the Continental -- Contiprocontact, 175-65-15r all weather.

Yeah. I have even had that happen at tire places.

I guess the regular tires that come on the MC run different pressures than the RFs that come on the MCS.

Interesting - in my '04 manual the recommended pressure for the MC ranges from 30-38 depending on tire size and load.

I just checked my door jamb. MC with 16" runflats, recomended 33/33. There is another small sticker beside the regular sticker that says 38/38 for speeds over 100 MPH.

I think I am going to try a little more pressure as I don't find the ride now harsh at all.
