How hard is it to change the headliner?

Hi folks,

First post here...I'm looking at buying a Cooper S sometime soon. I've found a model nearby that meets my specs, but the headliner is anthracite, as opposed to the gray. I like the lighter coloring of the gray headliner. Does anyone have any clue how hard it would be to swap the headliner? It seems like a big job to me, but I've only been in the car maybe 2 times. Also, any idea on pricing of the gray parts necessary for the swap?

Thanks!

Mike

I doubt it would be easy or cheap. You should either live with the anthracite or just order the car you want.

Mike, I'll second the other guy and tell you DON'T TRY IT! Unless you're just about STEALING this car pricewise, you're looking for trouble.

I bet you could find someone with a gray headliner that would love to trade with you though.

The black is sharp and adds huge ambiance to the feeling of the car

Sounds quite reasonable actually considering the labor involved.

It's not just the headliner. All the pillar plastic is that color. If it were just the headliner, I could see it being around $250 for materials alone. I'll be you're looking almost $1k just in parts.

If you want it, order it! (we did!)

If you're the adventurous type you could get someone to TRADE! I can imagine all the squeaks and rattles now. :-)
