No production number yet... Grrrrrr!!!

I ordered my car 4 weeks ago, today I called my MA to get a production number, he told me that I don't have one yet and that I may have it by next week. woohoo!!! So, if you live in the northwest, be prepared to wait!

Did you get a build sheet? If not why not? Go to the dealer and get one. It should contain all the data. It sounds to me like the MA was pre ordering based upon having no allocation. I put $500 down in Feb 06 at Northwest Mini. I ordered my car in Feb got a production number on the day I ordered my R56.

Yes I did get a build sheet. I ordered my car knowing full well that there would be a 4 month long turnaround. So yes, it does have to do with allocation, If I had ordered a non S cooper the wait would not be so long. I just needed to get in a good whine today. Whine acomplished. Motor on.

woot, congrats, don't mean to thread jack but what kind of negotiating power can one expect when ordering? do you settle on a price before hand or after the car is delivered?

You should get a production number ASAP unless your dealer does not have any allocations left. It is frustrating but look at it this way, you have a lot of time to change your order...I know I did, I changed my order twice in the last two weeks just by reading what others say in this forum. Being in NAM has the effect of making you think twice on your options!!!

I ordered April 2nd. No production number yet. The dealer says it will be built sometime in June. It should arrive by the end of July.

How is that for a wait?

I ordered mine on May 12. I still don't have a number either. We probably went to the same dealer.

Ordered mine from Rasmussen Mini in Portland. I would rather wait 4 months to get my mini than have any other car right now. I cant' think of any other car I would be willing to wait this long for. The mini just makes me smile every time I see one.

You're making me glad I ordered when I did at the beginning of April (at Rasmussen MINI). I'm picking mine up this Monday (June 4), just about two months after ordering. I originally thought I would wait until June before ordering, but I got too excited to wait. I didn't realize the build time would be so much longer if I had waited.

Yep, Rasmussen. Overall, they (my MA is Jarid) have been good and helpful. I'm just not used to waiting for things. Spoiled that way.
