So I'm gonna post my pictures later but I had to share....

So yesterday I picked up my baby from the dealership (MINI of Peabody).

It was a tough day, lasting through the entire day of school (I'm a teacher) and people asking me, "so where's the car" and just getting antsy all day. Plus I drank too much coffee, lol.

Later in the day after school, on the way to the dealership, I got stuck in horrendous amounts of traffic. Was agonizing.

SO, I finally get to the dealership and sit down with Hrach (very funny, very sweet). We do all the paperwork for it, no biggie. He had my car parked inside on the showroom floor so I felt extra special. And yes I got to drive it out. It was great, we went to get my inspection sticker together, got a little driving lesson (he used to race them).

Was great. Got everything done, and left the dealership to go home.

128 south (Busy highway in Mass for those of you who don't know).
5:30pm.
Contracting company truck.
Loose tools.

BAM!

One of their metal rakes came flying off the truck and luckily only hit my rear tire. Pulled over, didn't see damage to anything, got their card with plate and info and by the time I got back, I had a "low tire" warning on my dash. Great. Was only a short distance from the dealership so I went back to get it fixed.
Found out that it was SLASHED and I had to get an entirely new tire. Yup. Lovely. So the guy from the truck is gonna pay for it, it's just insane. I was really shaken up and Hrach (who gave me a hug, lol, I needed it) and everyone there couldn't believe it. Had some coffee while my tire was replaced.

So THEN I got home and whatnot. It was just insane. Well, I'm okay and so is the car. And thank god for that one. Eeesh.

Long story short. I'm okay and so is my baby.

I'll post pics later.

I'm a noob.... So I'm wondering what the Lightning Blue owners club does, or is it just a thread.

Very nice. Just be very weary of pot holes they will screw up your stearing. I have to get a Dr Apt for Clown next week because of this.

Just an update on mine: broke 3000 miles over this last weekend. The miles are piling on!!!

Unfortunately, the car is currently at the dealership trying to diagnose a strange noise that has materialized at start up. Driving a loaner 328xi BMW, and while it's nice, it's so boring compared to my Cooper!!!!

Sorry to hear you're having an issue with the car. What kind of noise is it?

I took mine in for its 1 year service and got a 328i. While it was nice it was soooo boring. I have to take my MC in again for a windshield replacement next week and am NOT looking forward to driving another non-MINI for at least 2 days!!!

Good luck getting that noise fixed.

Midnight Mini, don't mean to get off the main topic but when I read your story about the rake it reminded me of the same type of scary incident with a rake coming off a truck. I was going in the opposite direction of the truck in a 55 mph zone and saw it fly off the rear heading in my direction at what equates to about l00 to ll0 mph. Tried my best to avoid that thing and fortunately it didn't bounce up into my windshield but did catch my rear tire. Also had a 4 x 8 ft sheet of plywood fly out of a large open bed truck on the interstate. A few of us did a good job of getting outta the way. It must have been at least 20 - 25 feet in the air once it became airborn.

Holy crap. I would've been shaking like a leaf. Scary stuff. Makes me want to shake the other driver and yell at them for not properly securing their gear/tools. *snarl*

Just as an FYI, the owner of the company called me and appologized and will be paying for everything... He better... lol.

Mine:

I'm still looking for someone to swap gas doors with, although I'm thinking I want someone fairly local, as it seems I have to take the tire and fender liner off to remove/install it.

I picked up my LB/W MCS about 3 weeks ago. I have put 1,200 since, a quick break-in, only took it over 4K a couple times. I don't have pictures yet, but am having some side stripes installed so will take pictures and post them once they are on. Also I am glad I got my car now, unfortunately LB will soon be a thing of the past.
