This has become a non-issue. All cars manufactured in March or later have a working compartment. Cars on the lot would have to be at least that old to have a non-functioning compartment.

Hi all, i wanna know if the newer cars also have the secret compartment. I have a newer built than march 2007 but still have the compartment sealed. My car is right hand drive though, dunno if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Tristan is April 07 and has a secret compartment. Supposedly they fixed the problem pretty quickly.

None of us should have it unless we got a CD changer. Leave it to MINI to put it in there anyway...very quirky.

Wait... so I'm not supposed to have a CD changer in there? Checking my spec. sheet it's not listed or priced! That's what I get for buying a car off the lot!
