R56 Secret compartment Yes or No?
I'm still without the secret compartment, but at least now I have the problem identified. ASK MINI called me back today and said that fluid silver is the ONLY color identified with the problem--the right part number identifies the wrong part! The silver fronts are coming in closed, even though the part number is identified in the service bulletin as open. Naturally, I'm the first in the country to find this out. Funny--this sort of thing would never happen with GM cars--there are SO many of them that there never is a "first person," LOL.
I'd rather have my MINI, secret compartment or not. I realized this once more after driving my husband's BMW--what a barge in comparison!

Yeah, Korby, I took it in a couple of weeks ago, and had a loaner for that time. I got her back Tuesday pending straightening out the problem. I figure if it's still a problem when I get back from vacation they'll have to give me something for it. I dunno, maybe an extended warranty?
I got mine back on Monday - compartment installed, working perfectly, no squeaks rattles whizzes or bangs.
I got my MFSW installed at the same time, but it - ahem - was missing one function. It goes back next friday by which time I hope they have figured out how to get the other function (cruise control) working....

Nevermind, Im going to have to push the install out by another week. Im going to a Phil Wicks driving weekend next weekend and have heard it tends to knock rattles and squeeks loose. Ill have to wait till I get back to have it done.

My MA told me today the secret compartments were initially glue shut because they had discovered some sort of noise coming from within when opened. They have since fixed the problem and all minis now come with the secret compartment usable.
Yippee! Zippeee! now is complete--got the compartment installed yesterday. I'm probably the first of the silvers with the retrofit, since it took so long to get the right (silver) part. Oh well, such is the price of fame...
No, but at one point they had it a week--each day thinking the right part would come in. Finally identified the supply-chain problem, and I got my car back to await the real part.
I had a loaner MCS, though. Oddly optioned--no MFSW, but automatic windshield wipers, no autoair, but xenons, etc.

Yeah...except...I told them I heard an annoying snapping sound in the clutch--pedal only, not the clutch itself. They found it, all right--it's a bushing. Do they HAVE the bushing on these shores? Nope. Gotta wait.
And so it goes...
And so it goes...
***IF YOU DO NOT YET HAVE YOUR ORDERED MINI***
