R56 R56 Week 23 Production Support Group
It seems the MINI gods are with me. I haven't slid back but have actually moved forward
OL now shows my car has moved into the SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION phase and a VIN shows up there now. Woot! I think OL gets updated in the evenings, Pacific time so it might be worth checking again now.
While this is great news, now it will be nearly impossible to get aboard the MAERSK WIND, departing 6/4 and I'll likely be sitting on the dock for week before the next ship. Maybe howdyem will still make it onto the same ship.
I just tried ASK-MINI and the people were gone but the recording said estimated production completion date of 6/5. I'll talk to an actual person there tomorrow and hopefully they won't tell me my production has been rescheduled

Nah, my MINI is too shy to race through the production line. But seriously, its going ahead at a snail's pace.
EDIT: Mea Culpa! My MCS is actually stuck in the paint shop. I guess they're out of Lightning Blue color mixers.
I think I've watched that video so many times that I've started hallucinating about my MINI being in that clip.

Anyone know anything about how the VINs work?
Since my car was reordered, I have both VINs now, the original and the replacement. It seems incredible to me but the numbers are only 110 apart. The cars are 7 days separated in terms of production schedule.
It could be that the VINs are assigned by dealership or this is just some random coincidence. If they are consecutive, then how does a factory that is known to produce 700 cars a day only have a difference of 110 in VINs over a week?

OK So how long does it take to weld a da** car together
So "Smudge" has been in production now for three days, and it's supposed to be finished by 06/05. The first stage appeared to be welding, then paint, asembly, QA etc. The schedule appears to be slipping:impatient. Any ideas out there
just spoke with a great guy at ASK MINI---He said once in production their status updates can be a bit erratic. May not show on a day to day basis though the car is moving along. He said you can pretty much rely on completion dates BUT they DO NOT KNOW exactly when the cars will leave port till that status is locked in.
If you are questioning will it catch the next ship (as am I) they do not know.

east coast. My MA said from his experience, once the car is completed, about 4 weeks to midwest. I am not totally crazed since I have a MINI now and another car to play with BUT if it gets here earlier than expected, I won't complain.
Same here. My car "entered production" on 5/29 but has yet to get to the body shop. ASK-MINI gave me a completion date of 6/4 (actual person) or 6/5 (recording).
ASK-MINI updates
I just called ASK-MINI to see if my car has entered the body shop yet. Not yet
According to the person I spoke with, the information is updated at ASK-MINI only once a day at about 8pm Pacific Time. So I guess I can stop asking them more than once a day
He was pretty sure that my car won't get on the next ship but will have to wait for following one.

Body shop - 3 days
Paint shop - 4 days
Assembly and QC - 1 day
I'd say your car should be out of the factory on or before 06/05.
Should br the integrity.try this website http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/
I hope so. It really doesn't matter if I'm going to miss the MAERSK WIND on 6/4 anyway. I don't think I'll see any updated information until Monday so if my car happens to get the dock by then, it will be a nice surprise.
Thought I'd chime in here. My 2007 MCS is currently in production with a build date of June 7th. I'm hoping... (knocking on wood as we speak) it can get out of Oxford and make the June 9th trip on the Integrity.
You can read all about the factory options here: Buying a 2007 MCS: the Order

I hope MINI doesn't drop the ball on your order. Everybody's watching
