Well Howdyem, you're not alone in the bad news. I just got off the phone with Ask MINI and they told me I also have been pushed back to week 24 SNVABCH! CENSORED!! DELETED!!! XXXXXXX!!!! Okay, I feel better now....alright so I lied! The only thing my MA thought might have pushed this back is the Audio package I ordered. So what's another week anyway?

Even though I have little faith in the accuracy of ASK-MINI's information, I just called them and spoke with an actual person. She just said my car is IN PRODUCTION with an estimated completion date of 6/4. I wonder if this corresponds to status 150.

I'm not sure if it's going to stick or not. I'll try my MA later to confirm. I think I'll finally believe it when they say my car is in the body shop. Of course, OL still shows ON ORDER.

Rover, I'm glad you've got some dates; it's definitely better to have Ask MINI tell you that they see the light at the end of the tunnel for you than not.

I'm not surprised that several of you have been pushed back considering what has happened to me.
I called in a few minutes ago but it seems the MINI order tracking system is down! I mean like WTH?

Hey gforce23, when I called this morning the system was down also. It took the lady I talked to almost ten minutes to find out where my car was and I didn't get any explanation of why its been in production for over a week. When I asked if my car would be done by the end of the week she said "maybe."

and when it comes back up all the dates will have changed yet again?! It's like a house of mirrors.

Those guys can expect to hear a mouthful if the completion date gets pushed back to June. I mean, bumping up the production week to #21 makes no sense if the car gets completed in week #23! And FWIW, I haven't ordered Sirius or any "backorder" options.

In the last couple weeks I've read through a large portion of this site and I haven't found any other accounts of the production scheduling being so unpredictable. Has anyone seen this type of confusion in older posts? It really does seem like there is something unusual going on at the factory right now. It doesn't help any either to see many East Coasters getting their cars within a month of ordering but I guess here in SoCal, we have both the longer shipping time and higher demand so not enough allocation to go around.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It seems week #21 through #24 are relatively empty (for no apparent reason!). Week #25 onward is choc-a-bloc full of orders or atleast that's what my local sales manager told me. Has every future MINI owner gotten wind of the soon-to-be-released '08 models?

If I may salt to the wound, you forgot the stratospheric markup out on the left coast.

UPDATE:
I just talked with someone from ASK-MINI. According to their system, my MCS entered the body shop on 05/26 and its still out there. The car has an estimated completion date of week #23 and get this, my car was never scheduled for week #21 and is actually with the week #22 group.
Okay, so if my car was bumped up from #23 to #22, how did it enter the body shop in #21? The rep dodged around the question by saying that production usually took 4-5 weeks! By that measure, if my car has an estimated completion date of #23, it must have made its first walk in the "birth canal" sometime in week #18! By God! She might have mistaken an MCS for a Rolls Royce.

when do `08 models come out?

sorry to hear that some/many of you are going through similar difficulties with AskMini... it's just so frustrating. i wanted to at least play with my mini for a month before i left to go out of town in early August... now i'm not sure what will happen... the askmini rep stated that it should get pushed back past week 24, but who knows at this rate... i didn't even order any sound packages or backordered items either...

welcome to the group EMTREY.. believe me when i say that we're usually a happy bunch here in this group... it's just been a confusing past couple days/weeks for some of us... but welcome aboard!!! when did you order your mini?

Sometime in early August if I'm not mistaken, though actual production might start a lot earlier.

gforce23,

I've been told by both an ASK-MINI rep and my dealership people that typically a car finishes production about 6-8 days after it reaches IN PRODUCTION status (150).

Now I'm really getting mad at the incompetent guys in that call centre (or whatever it is). My MA called me with the "good news" that my MCS had an estimated completion date of 05/30 (that's tomorrow) and she would give me the lading number for WW (or K-line) before I leave for my backpacking trip early next week.
My question is, if my car is in the body shop at this moment, how in the world do they expect the have the car out of the factory by tomorrow? Even the ubiquitous Camry takes more than one day from conception to birth.

I think your car has been out of the body shop for long time already. That information must be wrong. Maybe your car missed a scan on leaving the "body shop" and wasn't able to update after that.

Good luck with getting on a ship soon

i just spoke to my MA... the only way he goes about checking my car is though the OL ... i told him i heard other MA's were able to get status codes because the OL and askmini don't have completely reliable info, and he wasn't familiar with this. he said he was going to ask the Sales Manager and get back to me... any suggestions on how i can get more info from my MA??? i'm thinks he thinks i'm going nutty over this one week setback... but c'mon...

I got a copy of a "Vehicle Inquiry Report" that gives the order status code. I think it's the same thing that is called the "build sheet".

Your MA should defininetely know more than ASK-MINI, I am supposed to have a completion date of 06/05, and that is through ASK-MINI although the automated line still says no production date set. But I do have my vin, so thats a good sign?

The MA can't help since he/she would usually check the current status via the order tracking system. The crux of the problem is the botched tracking system itself. For example, my car entered the body shop on 05/26 and was still in there the last time I checked. According to my MA, the completion date is 05/30 (tomorrow). That's impossible by any measure.

Yeah, getting the VIN# is a sign of good things to come.

I asked ASK_MINI Rover, and they said yes we do have a vin and gave it to me. There is no reason why your MINI would spend 3 days in the body shop, GForce since it should only take 3-6 days to build completely. I think someone forgot to scan it at some point

hey rover... how and where did you get this "vehicle inquiry report"?

i'm feeling like i'm getting the run around from my MA (or the sales manager)... esp since all i'm being told is not to worry and that i will get built... we'll see if i get news tomorrow fr them on what's going on with my mini...

maybe tomorrow i'll try to ask AskMini for a VIN... but do you think I'll get one even though my mini has possibly been pushed back? ex-pat brit... what stage did ask-mini say you were in when you got your vin?

howdyem,

When my car was reordered, I was sent a copy of the Vehicle Inquiry Report by my Sales Manager. She wanted me to look it over and confirm that all the options were correct. In that report is an "order status" line. Mine said 112 as of the date of that document, 5/22.

I was also reassured by my Sales Manager not to worry and that I wouldn't lose any time. I guess she was referring to my assigned production week 23 and not the fact that my first order was already in production. I understood her to say that my replacement car was also already at 150 but a few days later she said that was not the case. She had been referring to my original car and the replacement was still at 112. I could tell she was getting a bit irritated with me and my prodding for information and I commend her patience. I understand that they don't have the resources to keep every customer completely up to date.

The last thing she said was that she would let me know as soon as there was a change in my status. Since then, ASK-MINI (actual person) said my car had moved into production. I can interpret these events as either that my Sales Manager is too busy to keep checking on my car's status or ASK-MINI is wrong and nothing has really changed yet. I prefer to believe my Sales Manager is too busy

I hope you can find out something more encouraging tomorrow. Good luck to everyone in this thread.

ASK-MINI (the automated line) has changed to moved into production with a completion of 06/05. The OL is still on order, and the operator at ASK-MINI says still in production, hasn,t reached the bodyshop. Will call MA today
