Clubman 2010 - spare tire question?

Hi
I bought a 2010 Clubby about 6 month ago and now realised that there is a space for a spare tire but the compartment is empty.
I am wondering if the spare tire is a standard in the 201 Clubby (not S) or is it an option?
Thanks a lot

If your Clubby originally came with Run Flat tires or has them on there now there won't be a spare. You can buy one from your dealer or from ECS or other vendor on NAM. My 2011 came with a spare as it had conventional tires on it from the factory.

I bought my 2010 R56 S with non-run flats from Carmax. Yesterday I had my first puncture and learned that the space saver spare in the trunk does not work on the front wheels - discs too large. I called Carmax and the helpful dude there contacted Mini for me (amazing in itself). The word is that TBRoye is correct. But also that the space saver only works on the rear wheels. So, if like me you get a puncture on a front wheel, you're actually supposed to switch a rear for your punctured front, then put the space saver on the rear. What a pain.

You might check around and see if there are 16" temp. spare available. The S probably has 16' wheels and larger brakes than the non S Check with ECS Tuning or other online Mini vendors. I think the space in the boot is big enough to hold a 16" temp spare I would look but wife is out with Granddaughter running around. It seem like there was a lot of room down there.

I have the 15" Mini factory spare in my Clubman. No way would a 16" fit in that space... not down in the well... I got mine form Detroit Tuned with the insert kit.

Yeah, the spare was a 15", but the bigger discs on the front grind against the inner rim. I don't think a 16" would fit in the recess for it, no.

Correct, as stated above if you have an "S" the 15" spare won't clear the front brakes.

I have 2012 clubby (new) non s model with regular tires. It does come with a spare tire, and it does fit the front wheel well. I had to change my tire last month in 20 degree F weather at night in MA, after hitting a giant pot hole.
You have to make sure the lug nuts line up well. I also have 195/55/16 snow tires/ wheels and they fit fine as well.

I think mis read the question, I don't think 16 spare will fit in the trunk, unless you remove the cover.

Yes if the car came with runflats it likely didn't come with a spare. We have a spare that fits the well perfect as you can't go any larger than this one which is about 22 inch diameter.

Way motor works and Detroit tuned both sell spare tire kits. Well worth it. I put non-run flats on for snow tires.

MINI (BMW) and the American market- Most of their buyers don't/can't change flat tires. They can use a telephone, so let's save some money on each unit and place a sticker where some helpful equipment (spare tire, warning triangle) should be.

Most of us gear heads can and DO change tires. The space saver spare was one of the first things I bought for our Clubman S. And there IS a place for it in the car! Yes, I know it won't fit on the front, but I wouldn't want to use it on the front driven wheels. A space saver is just to get you up and running and out of harms way. Not to be used on the rest of your weekly commute until you can get to the tire shop on Saturday.

Clubman Spare tires

If you Mini Clubman is an non -S and came with 15 inch tires , it came with a spare. If 16 inch tires came on the car there is no spare. Since Clubman S models come standard with 16 inch wheels or upgrades 17 inch wheels you do not get a spare, but run flats.

Also, I have read in the past that a chevy Cobalt compact spare will fit a Mini. Some people have gotten them.

Also, on the Mini there is actually two hidden compartments under the top deck, When I first got my Clubman I raised the top rear floor up and did not see anything but a carpeted place. I did not know the spare is under it.

For what it's worth, if your Clubman came with the foam insert for a spare (mine did), I don't think it'll fit inside the spare tire. Detroit Tuned has a kit that includes the spare and a custom foam insert to fit inside the spare.

If you need just the foam insert, I think ECS Tuning sells it - Trunk Tray. Don't know if it's exactly the same, but appears to be.

Usually just a small air compressor along with a can of fix-a-flat and maybe some tire plugs will get you to a station that can repair a puncture. That is all I carry for my non-runflats.
