Replacing Dash Trim
My wife would like me to change the 2 dashboard trim panel, the one behind the Tach. and the hidden compartment door. She doesn't care for the stock silver panels. How much hassle is it. I have had plenty of experience in removing dashboards and other interior pieces as before I retired I worker for the CHP equipping their various vehicles so I feel I can do it just want to know how work is involved. I am going to get a Bentley Manual as the Hynes one is useless with the lousy pictures.

Thanks for the info. Did the search, don't know it I want to go through all that at this time Tearing half dash apart is not what I wanted to do. If need to do something else then I will do it. but just to change 2 pieces of plastic. I was hoping to remove the bottom knee pads and the Tach. then pop the two pieces out. I will show wife the pictures and see if she wants to go forward.

The one behind the tach:
1.) Tilt steering wheel all the way down.
2.) pull steering wheel all the way to the out position.
3.) remove two torx screws holding on tach. Technically you should be able to maneuver the piece out without removing the tach but it makes it easier.
4.) using your finger tips pull on the trim piece to remove.
A plastic trim removal tool is helpful in removing this piece especially if you have fat fingers.
You may have to transfer the metal mounting posts from the original trim piece to the new trim piece. I did with the carbon fiber version.
The one covering the secret compartment is much easier once you figure out how the plastic clips work that hold it onto the compartment door. Take your time you don't want to break the clips. Took about 10 minutes when I swapped out for the carbon fiber versions. There might be a torx screw or two, I can't quite remember.

You don't have to mess with the 3 plastic rivets just the two torx screws and plastic clips along the top and bottom edges. The piece is just a cover that attaches to the compartment door. If/when you order the piece it will become more apparent. You'll be like... This is easy.
