Exterior Trim, Adhesives Question

Hey all,

I have an issue with a couple of spots on my 2007 MCS. The trim between the roof and the car at the front (just above the top corners of the windshield) has come loose. I noticed this a few days ago; and there is a lot of black goop in there...as it looks like someone previous has tried to repair it. Any suggestions on an adhesive or RTV that works to keep this stuck in place? Here is a picture of the affected area on one side. Pardon the dust and dirt on the car!

That's the exact problem the guy that did my windshield warned me about. He puts extra urethane in that area to help hold those down.

Do you use automatic car washes?

I don't. I've only hand washed it 3 times since I've had it for the past month. I was looking on Pelican Parts and they have the "yellow" 3M Weatherstripping and trim adhesive. I'm wondering if that would do the trick? Any guesses?

I had a similar issue with some trim for a non-Mini. I used some black Permatex silicone adhesive from the auto parts store, and it hasn't moved since I put it on about 2 years ago. If you go that route, I would recommend that you don't get it on any paint (or clean it off quickly) and ensure that the edges are evenly coated. Use some painters tape to hold it in place until it's cured (shouldn't take long). Just an idea.
