2009 clubman Turbo shield recall... useless
OK, so i brought my r55 to the mini dealer do have the heat shield recall FIX
all they did was put a FOIL tape or something in between the turbo & the metal cover.. pls check pics
drove my car back home, everything when well,
the following day drove my car to work, abt 5 miles, i smelled something burning, which i did not pay attention, so drove my car back home, i saw some white smoke, & smelled like burned OIL ... pls check VID
before all this happened my car was running with out troubles, called the dealer & ask what happened , why is there a white smoke & smells like burned oil, looks like oil is leaking now from the top
they said, they did not do anything & just installed the FOIL heatshield
told them they have to fix this... i need to bring the car back & not charge me, for new diagnostics
will update you guys as soon they

Ok.
A: it's not just some goddamn foil from your kitchen. It's an insulating material that WILL keep heat out. It, in itself, is not causing an oil leak from being "FOIL!!!!!!OMG!!!".
Chill the **** out on the material it's made of. They use a flexible heat barrier so it can wrap around the oil line it's meant to protect.
B: I personally do not know if it simply clips in place with no other work needing to be done, or if they actually have to unbolt the banjo bolt on the oil line to install it. If they didn't unbolt anything, and only clipped the heat shield in place, tell me logically how exactly they caused an oil leak.
If they DID have to unbolt the oil line and your oil leak started driving home that night, sure, fight it to the bitter end. But if all they did was clip that shield in place, I don't see any way it could possibly be more than a coincidence unless the really messed up the line by manhandling it while installing and wrapping the shield.

oil vacuum pump? The vacuum pump is for the brake booster. It is 100% unrelated. Though it's an issue I'd be much more worried about since they made they key on it strong as hell so when it seizes up, instead of sheering the keys, it locks the motor up and causes you to need an entirely new motor, or at a bare minimum, new head.
If they do remove the line and replace the bolt.. be aware that oil will run down onto the turbo... it should have been cleaned off before returning it to you.. but in case they didn't... that's what it could very well be...
