Thanks ECSTuning...

Based on the photos of bluefox280 bonnet, and looking at my bonnet, it looks like the attachment points on both the old and new hoods match up. So part number 51482755612 should (key word should) fit. I'm going to mention this to my dealer the next time I am there...see if I can get it installed under warranty to hopefully fix the bonnet heat behind the scoop.

Also, part number 51487307579 should work just fine on any Gen2 MINI with the newer hood...not just the R58/R59.

Quite well comparison to not have it before.
Prior to installation, I wasn't able to touch the bonnet during summer drives; now I can place my entire palm.

Hi Eric

I recently purchased a 08 plate R55 Cooper S and have noticed the bonnet scoop and surrounding area heating up excessively.
I plan to copy your resolution and wondered if you still provide the vent scoops you made for your custom solution?

Thanks
James

PS your car looks awesome, do you still own it?

Just an update, this oem part just went NLA

https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/51482755612/

Alternative is 51487136797 if you want to retain the hood scoop being open.

https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/Sit...h/51487136797/

This part is found on the newer cars and covers up the scoop and also has a little heat shield. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...r-hood-12.html

WOW, this large piece (MIN P/N 51487307579 ) is almost half the price of the small piece (MINI P/N 51487136797) that just replaced the OE fabric heat shield (Mini p/n 51482755612 ).

MAN thats a MUCH smarter choice!!!! I bought one of BlueFox's curved turbo cooling shields and along with the two other factory parts (grey fabric and metal heat shield), I'm covered off (just like BlueFox's under bonnet pic.

Yep the prices jumped around from MINI. Used to be higher priced. As MINI NLAs items i have to find solutions for the MINI people.
