Time to trade in

I have a 2008 Clubman with 90,000 miles. How long can I expect this vehicle to run? I keep all maintance up to date with Inskip dealer service.
Do people have opinions when the best time to trade in this car? I love the car and would get another Clubbie.

If you like the car, keep driving it. The eventual repairs (unless something terrible happens) won't come close to another sales tax, eating the depreciation (and starting depreciation on a new car), higher property taxes, possible payments (or longer payments if you are currently financing), etc.

+1.

The cheapest car to own is the one you drive the longest.

If it is not giving you any trouble keep it. I wish I could do that. I have had a string of events that prevented me from doing so.

I agree with everyone here - if you have had no problems with it and don't mind driving a car with a few miles on it, then keep it. On the other hand, if you don't like having a car that is out of warranty and may be getting ready to have a problem or two then you might want to consider trading or selling it outright ( more $ for you ) and getting a new ( newer ) MINI.

I picked up my 2011 Clubman last week and my dealer was actually willing to deal on it!!! From what I hear there seems to be a overstock of manual transmission MINIs out there right now and if you can find one on the showroom floor that you like the dealer might be willing to make a deal - at least mine did.

Good luck and have fun - no matter what MINI you have

A few weeks ago my dealership took a clubbie in with just over 100k miles, she bought another car, new. Some people have a stigma with miles and can work themselves into a fear. If you don't care and it is still reliable, drive it. The value of a 3/4 yr old car with 90k on it will not be very high, especially with the gloom and doom of the "unreliability" of a MINI (usually S models).

@BigCoyote; Is the "overstock" in manual transmission because the automatics come from Japan and the earthquake/tsunami disrupted production?

That is what I was told - from the dealer and from my local MINI club members. How long it will last ??? I have never bought a new MINI because the local dealers always ask sticker price - I was very surprised when the salesman offered to discount the price before I really got serious. The salesman told me they could deal on almost any manual trans. car in stock - but especially on the clubmans ( which is what I wanted ) since they were not real fast movers. Needless to say I saved a few bucks and they sold a slow moving car. Everyone is happy - I have a MINI again
