Missing paddle shifters on my 2012 clubman s

I am just about to take delivery of a brand new 2012 clubman s with auto trans and paddle shifters. To my surprise when I went to see the car and sign my paperwork the paddle shifters were missing and I had a plastic steering wheel. Has anyone else experienced this? My dealer told me mini is aware of the problem and is working on a corrective fix. I am reluctant to take delivery until I better understand what the fix is, how involved it is and how long it will take. Can anyone provide any insight? Thx.
Dan

I was informed that paddle shifters are no longer a standard option with an automatic transmission. They are standard on the JCW, but an option for others.
