Fan Question!!!

Ok, so after skimming the owners manual cant find an answer! Had my 2010 Clubman for almost 4 mos. and this never happened before. Drove her for about 1 1/2 hours straight, pulled into my garage, turned off the engine. A second later a noise came from under the bonnet. Sounded like a fan. Freaked me out. It ran for about a minute or so, then stopped. Anyone else have this happen?? No warning lights came on, so Im assuming it was cooling the engine down. Its about 75 degrees here and ridiculously humid.

Thanks for any help!!

LOL...relax. It's the normal cool down for your car. Mine does it occassionally too.

+1 totally normal if the water being circulated by the aux waterpump after shutdown is above a certain temp.

IT still amazes me how many people don't know this happens. ALL my cars for the past 28 years have done this with one exception and that was my full 1999 Dodge full size pickup. I can go back to my 1983 VW Rabbit that had a fan that ran after the engine was shut of to help cool the engine.

I obviously knew what it was but I can say I haven't had one of my cars (Honda Accord, Ferrari 348, Mazda RX-8, Toyota Sequoia) do it in a long time...that is until I got the Mini...

Actually that is a good thing when you hear that fan coming on after shut down.Remember these are small little tight fitting engines and turbos that need to cool down .Also another thing I do is after a long run I don't immediately shut engine down wait a couple of mins.to help cool it down.
