Does your Mini ever die on you?

I have a 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman with 53k on it. My wife has complained for over a year that the Mini's engin will die on her when she is going slow. I never believed her nor did the people at the Mini dealership. I always though she was talking about it felt like it was going to die.... Well the other day I was driving the Mini and low and behold the Mini just died on me while I was going about 5mph. It has happened several times since then going anywhere from 5-15mph. Any thoughts?

It's gonna be a tough one to fix if it isn't throwing any codes and only happens every now and then. The shop will want to experience the fault themselves.

good luck.

Brit or Yank? Wondering if its related to the auto-off gas-saver feature on the Euro version.

Wow, what a drag! Sorry to hear about that. I'm not sure what the problem could be, though perhaps it's related to the HPFP dealie that many people seem to have problems with? Take it in and be very persistent. Even if you can't recreate the problem there, a good mechanic would be able to consider a few different possibilities for the problem and take a look at them, ruling them out one by one. Be prepared to hear "You must be using bad gas!".

I'm a southerner. The car does not show any codes even right after it has died. The only suggestion the dealership had was to do a $200 service that is not covered under the warranty. The descirption of the service made it sound to me like they were charging $200 to run a can of sea foam though the motor. We have the extended 100k warranty.
