R55 Sirius Sportster 5 radio in a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman
Sirius Sportster 5 radio in a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman
Thanks to this forum I did this install. I wanted to do a console install. I have a 6 Speed 2009 Clubman S. I removed the cover under the passenger seat, passenger seat, console, passenger side trim around fuse box and radio. I left the seat in place still plugged in but tilted it back so I can run my antenna wire easily to the console area.
I don't like reaching for things while driving. The radio just fits perfectly between the shifter and e-brake on the console, so a mount needed to be made. I cut a rectangular 1/8" piece of steel, drilled 4 mount holes in it and welded it to 3/8" bolt at the desired angle and height I wanted. 2 Simple holes are drilled into the console for the bolt mount and power, antenna, and audio cables.
My parts used:
Sirius Sportster 5 Radio
Sirius Radio Dock
3 Ft right angle 1/8" audio cable
Custom Mount
CDINT antenna cable SB9SBJ-174-5
TSS radio hard wire kit w/ 5V transformer.
Add a circuit Mini Fuse kit.
AC Delco Weatherpak 2 wire connector.
5 Ft 2 conductor 14 gauge cable.
For Power I used an Add a Circuit tapped to fuse F34. The power harness was made with the 2 conductor cable terminated under the console with the Weatherpak connector to the transformer which is double stick taped to the console. I didn't want to use the cigarette lighter for power because I may need that for other things like a portable GPS. This way you can unplug the console if needs to be removed. Right angle audio cable plugs into the aux connector of my factory radio and all right angle antenna, audio and power cables fit perfectly thru a 3/8 hole in the console. Wires are all hidden except for the 6 inches of audio cable coming out of the aux connector.
I like this set up because you can press radio buttons and tune with the dial without ever taking your eyes off the road. Here are some pics..

Thanks a bunch
Paul
