Am I missing something about folding the side mirrors in?

The manual says to turn the mirror control past the end position on either side to fold in the mirrors...this does nothing for me, at any speed. Is there something else I need to do to make this happen?

Thanks,
Noah

When you say "at any speed" i hope you mean speed of turning the mirror control and not speed of driving!

So the **** has two motions:
1. rotates to select the left or right side
2. 4 way directional to move the mirror once selected.

So they say that the mirror folder is activated when you rotate and hold in the **** in either direction. I usually try one direction and then the other and same to un-fold.

I'm sure there's some rhyme and reason to it but i haven't paid attention.

Headlands,

Not to be a wiseguy but are you sure you have that option?

Awesome.

It is a separate option, or part of the Cold Weather Package.

If you do not have one of these, you do not have power folding mirrors.

Oy! Well I thought it was standard issue -- that's what the dealer specifically told me when I bought the car.

My bad! Thanks for letting me know -- I was misinformed by the dealer.

Carry on!

Folding mirrors are standard... you just have to grab them with your hands to fold them.

The "power" part will cost you an extra $500.

... which would include heated seats, washer jets and mirrors if you got the cold weather package. So... that's not exactly a bad deal.

I only fold mine in the garage. A little off of the subject-many UK vehicles have auto folding mirrors because their parking spaces are so tight. But even so, I think it is strange that Canada has auto folding mirrors on their MB GLK's but we don't get them here in the US.

Yep, I use mine in the parking garage too... even for a small car, parking is tight. Also great for when I have to park on the side of the street in the city.

Ok, I have the cold package and just figured out how to power fold my mirrors. The seat warmer button must be turned ON and then you turn the mirror button ALL the way to the left or all the way to the right depending on which mirror you wanna fold.

Heated seats do not have to be on for this to work... you should try it again. If this is the case, something is not right with your car and you should have it looked at the next time it is in for service.

My bun warmers do not have to be on to fold in the mirrors, and it does not matter which way I turn the ****, both mirrors fold up.

Hmmm I wonder if mine fold. I have a Canadian 2008 Clubman (not S) with heated leather sport seats, but I'm not totally sure I have the cold weather package. Options were different up here and I bought the car 1 year used.

I tried turning the mirror **** to either side but nothing happened. I'll fiddle with it later today to see. I don't need to fold them but it would be nice to see what the car can do

I'm discovering lots of "little" things that need fixing on this road trip. Is mine the only one that works ONLY when the heated seats are on? OY! Yup, I just tried it w/out being on and nothing happens--push, pull, turn, rotate...nada. Then I click on my heated seat button and they work. I thought it was annoying to have to turn on the heated seats first, but thought its a mini and they have quirks. Annoying, but typical Mini.

you have to turn the **** pretty far, it almost feels like you've broken it loose when the mirrors start to move. Mine will have the little white mark at about 7:30 when you hear the mirror motor start working.

I love the power folding mirrors, it makes me feel good that i can make extra room for the Excursions and Suburbans that always seem to gravitate next to me. God forbid THEY would be inconvenienced.....I know, bitter, party of one.

I use the folding mirrors daily for extra room in the garage. They do not fold in above a certain MPH, probably 5-7 or so.

When I was shopping for my MINI I've discovered an interesting fact that the Cold Weather Package list price was the same as just heated seats ($500).

The service tech told me the mirrors will not fold in if you are driving over approx. 37 mph. So I wonder if it is actually set for 60 kph. Not sure about the folding out part though.

Like DanH says, they are great for a little extra room in the garage.

My dealer told me that power-fold mirrors were not available in Canada, so I could not order them
