I dented my barn door

My hands were full so I shut the door with my knee. Now I have a nice little dent Anyone have a link or info on how to remove the interior barn door panels so i can try to push it back out? Thanks.

I would have a professional paint-less dent remover do the work. If you push it out and you don't know what you're doing you could end up with a dent outwards. They're only about $50...

I will second the paintless Dent Repair. (PDR) Find a good one though. Call your local MINI dealer, they'll probably have a contact number. Trust me, not all PDR techs are the same.

Thanks for the info. Pulled the panel pushed it back with my thumb. Good as new. Metal seems pretty thin. I guess thats why they put the handles on the doors . From now on, I'll use them

Glad that the fix worked. Just for interesting tidbit.. It was suggested to me to use a plunger to pop out a dent (I made it in the door of my ex pickup when I had my hands full and closed the door with the ole hip swing).

That little barn door seems pretty thick to me. I can't believe it can be dented this easily with a knee push ... must have been a serious kick

Not so thick. I had a cardboard box that was slightly larger than my rear compartment. When I pushed to close the barn door the pressure of the box against the interior panel caused it to crease the door panel from the inside out. The door closed ,by the way, and I didn't even notice it. My wife noticed it while driving behind me with her lights on. I'm sure this has hppened to other owners.

I did the same thin.

Just to confirm. I did exactly the same thing. Pressed the right rear barn door closed with my knee (not very hard) and put a small dent in it. Really easy to do, so put your stuff down and use the handles. My car was only a few weeks old. Lesson learned!

+2 for serious damage. I did it on my previous car: hail on roof and baseball ball damage on passenger door (2 kids). Worked like a charm, car still looks great

For small bumps... just be careful removing it yourself...Glad it worked wanta

trbasil, great info, I am placing it on my favorites Thanks

Not a problem, I did that a while back to help out someone who was trying to replace their rear handles with vinyl wrapped ones. One caveat that I would add is to be careful to line up the plastic push pins when reinstalling the panels. I bent a couple of them over when doing mine and the panel kept wanting to fall off on me.

I gotta stop reading posts like this...it makes me bummed out that car is made like it is. I guess the thin metal saves some weight, but I'd take a touch more weight for a stronger car that can take a simple knee push!

Mine too

I have a bigger dent, a friend tried to help push me off a snowy lawn and pushed against the painted part of the door.

I'm ging to call one of the dent remover folks, I'm worried about the area where the dent meets the handle. I might make it worse by trying to push it out myself.

I also willl wait until it's little warmer out, it hasn't been above freezing in the past few weeks and that might make the paint a little brittle.

I was really suprised that could happen so easily.
