Just received a recall notice from BMW!

According to our records, your CLUBMAN has been recalled by BMW North America. Your BMW's passenger seat mat can fatigue causing the front passenger airbags to be deactivated. In order to remedy this situation, BMW is conducting a Service Action to modify the seat mat to prevent fatigue. This action may require you to leave your vehicle for an overnight stay depending on the length of programming required. Please call us at 480-538-3970 at your earliest convenience to schedule your CLUBMAN for service. Or, you can schedule an appointment through our website at http://auto.xtime.com/bmwnorthscottsda. Thank you! We look forward to providing you with first class service. Service Department BMW NORTH SCOTTSDALE 18018 North Scottsdale Road Mini-7101 East Chauncey Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85054 Phoenix, Arizona 85054 p. (480) 538-3950 f. http://auto.xtime.com/bmwnorthscottsda

holy crap batman, just received a phone call back from my mini service advisor (who is GREAT by the way). this email they sent was a HUGE mistake, and his phone has been ringing off the hook since it went out. It was for the BMW 5 series, NOT for the mini.. BUT he did say that there might be a possible recall on the cat converter, but mini has not released the details yet. He said he will know more in a week...

sorry for the "scare"...

How about scanning that recall letter and posting it here.
It may be priceless.
I bet the dealer offers to "Pick Up The Letter" from you in exchange for a free donut.

I got the letter in my email, too. When I called the service dept. they knew nothing of it. They suggested I adjust my passenger to fix the problem. My "passenger" is a lifesize gorilla. He is not heavy enough to activate the airbag system anyway. When I reminded them that I'm the customer with gorillas in my cars, they realized that the problem was supposedly with the car, not my passenger.
I'm glad to learn this is a mistake as the trip is over 100 miles to go down. It would have been a shame to drive that far for a mistake, not that I would mind the drive.
