Our 1st mod stolen after one week.

Some crook snached our Checker Board Valve stem caps last night while the family was at the roller skating rink.
I know it's only $15 but I never would have dreamed they would have been stolen. I want to get some more but now I'm paranoid they''ll get stolen again.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Oh that just sucks. I'm so sorry!

What part of the country are you in?

Apparently kids are the biggest threat to these caps, as they use them on their bikes? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

GRRR. That would really upset me. I wanna say "who would do such a thing! darn kids!" but then I would feel even older than I am

you are exactly correct! Kids will steal those like no other for their bikes. Had this happen to my cars numerous times and eventually just put the regular ones on. Unless you can figure out some clever way of securing the caps they will be gone within a very short period of time .

Too bad we can't install an electric shock on them that activates when we lock the car.

The kid goes to touch the cap and ***ZZZZAP***

We had chrome valve stem caps with the MINI emblem on them and they were stolen when we were in Niagara Falls....so it must have been another Mini owner....or like it was said before some kid (probably selling them on ebay or something)

That's too bad, I'm sure they looked great on your MINI. Every time I consider buying something similar, I always wonder..."How long..." Unfortunately, depending upon where you park, it's caveat emptor due to thieves.

43,000 miles and 2 years, and still on my original set of UJ caps... helps to live where stuff like that rarely happens...

I have only had it happen once when I was a kid was with other kids who took chrome valve stems. Personally I have tens of thousands of stereo equipment stolen with and with out alarms. But that was a long time ago, we live in good neighborhood and the Clubman will sleep in the garage everynight.

They do make sets that need a key to remove them

"Locktite" seems like it would make it hard to check my tire pressure and a key is out of the question.
I think it was just "right place wrong time" I'll probably just get another set...if that set gets stolen we'll go with the stock ones.

I have the checked valve stems too...It just seems that you would really need to examine the wheels to see that sort of thing... I don't like that someone would be THAT close to the car...

almost got the mini logo caps myself, but didn't because [a] it's not a factory installed only option, so i knew i could always add later myself, and [b] had two sets of chrome caps ripped off my mx-6 when it was new, so i vowed to never again spend money on something so easy to steal.

That's why I haven't gotten any nice valve stem caps; I know it would only be a matter of time... As Scooby's villain's would say, "I would have gotten away with it, if it weren't for those meddling kids!
