R55 Clubman Capture Contest
We were driving back from San Fran last Monday and hit very heavy traffic on the 101 - not knowing yet about the fires. We starting getting calls from friends, etc. and then tuned into the news and that's when we learned of the fires near you too. It took us 4 1/2 hours to get from Santa Barbara to Oceanside - uggggg....so it was a 12 hour drive home for us - however we did take the 1 starting at Half Moon Bay - so we knew it would be longer that way - but we weren't counting on all the fire traffic.....
We saw a minimum of 100 police cars with their lights on going North on 101 - all in a line - obviously going to close off more roads, etc.
But I thought of you truly when we drove through the Thousand Oaks area. I even said to Mike - this is where HTClubman lives -

WOW! and the car is GORGEOUS!!!!

Can't let Donna get too far ahead of me! Believe it or not, this is NOT my new PW. Ours has a black roof and no rails (see my gallery if there's doubt). Caught this on Hillcrest in Thousand Oaks today. Must find out who else in town has a PW Clubman!!
Dang girl - do you work out of your house???? Stay at home working Mom??? You are out and about during the day all the time - lucky you!!! Good catch again....

I work for a major company, and yes, I'm out and about all the time...am salaried so have flexibility to run errands, etc. Plus, as many know, I stalk constantly for Clubmans! I really am curious who in town has a PW?! Exciting!
My hubby gets to stalk during the day - he's actually gotten many of the shots I've posted.
Lucky you to have that flexibility....I stalk when I can - I ride the train to and from work - so I look out the window - LOL!! Haven't spotted one yet from the train but I feel it coming - hehehehehe.

ok, finally have time to post my catches!
1. A PW/B heading northbound 280 near Daly City. I had to veer off my normal route to catch this one. Pepper white karma continues!
2. A CR(?) heading down Folsom in the City. Question, Parkerton: I took this photo while the clubbie was waiting for the signal - is this one point or two? No big either way, I'm just happy I was able to catch two in one week! Woo hoo.

WOWSERS!
Congrats on all the new captures!!!
Donna/Mike...YOU are who I was talking about when a few folks thought they should give up early in the contest and I said the winner might not even be close to being at the top of the leaderboard at this point. You guys rock!!! (while HT Clubman continues to "roll!") Okay, now that I've buttered you up, I've got to make a hard call. This contest is about who can spot the most Clubman's on their own. If you have friends/colleagues/family etc taking pictures on your behalf, those don't count. The one exception is if they are with you and they take the pic for safety reasons (e.g. you're driving). So Donna/Mike, I'll be glad to give you "your" points and Mike "his" points, but I can't pool them together into one account out of fairness to the contest competitors. I'm sure you understand. Let me know if "I've" misunderstood. Thanks!

Okay - so Mike gets 2 points on his own because the Silver one in the parking lot outside of the grocery store was the only one he took without me in the car with him....

Hey HTClubman,
Just got back from the Grand Tetons in Jackson Hole, WY and had to take an extra day to recover...we went on a crazy 18.5 mile hike through ice, snow, and elevation change. And this is someone who used to drive from his apartment to school which was right across the street!!! Anyways, I was pooped and am now back. I'm really impressed with Donna's rapid ascent! HTClubman, you've got competition!!!

Parkerton - Sounds like fun. I remember you were going on a trip, just didn't realize you'd be gone that long! Yes, Donna has really stepped it up, which I like! Nothing like a good challenge to get me going.
Donna - good grief...I like how you casually drop 'I have 2 more to post'...as if it's no big deal!
I'm going to be out during lunch and HUNTING/STALKING for a Clubman, so WATCH OUT!!

Thanks for the compliments. The Roof Rack is OEM - one of the first ones - and we've had no issues with it at all - we installed it ourselves - no bulging window - no leaking, etc. etc.

My wife and I are so itching to get the heck out of Florida. We've talked about so many places to move and this past weekend I said to her "let's move to California". She didn't have a problem with it but finding a good enough paying job maybe a sticking point.
Back to our regularly scheduled program.

I don't know how you all do it - while driving. I'm just not ready to pull out my camera or cell phone and click away....but maybe if I'm ever riding shotgun I'll give it a try.
Fantastic shot with that billowing smoke. I hope no one was hurt!

Nobody was hurt in this particular fire - but LOTS of people were evacuated from their homes. In fact, they have not yet returned as there is no power or water in that area.
Mike and I both must look like total retards sometimes in the car....
We both drive with our cameras out and on - ready to shoot....His cell phone also has camera capability but mine does not.
As soon as we see one, we both yell "There's a CLUBMAN"!!!!!! And if we miss one - which we have due to traffic or whatever, it's "CRAP - THERE IT GOES DA%M IT"!!!
I'm usually the spotter - "here comes one on the left or right" but you can't really tell if it's a Clubman until it's right next to you or already past...
Most of all - we have fun on the road looking for them...

Joep, I don't know if moving to CA will guarantee more Clubman. I live just 15 minutes south of downtown San Francisco...I would've thought this would be ground zero for Clubmans! But boy, I haven't captured one for about a month!!!
And in that time, I've only missed a couple. Anyhow, I think So Cal is Clubman central at least for now.

Donna, I'm laughing - but very glad no one was hurt in that fire, though it sounds terrible. Laughing at the two of you with familiarity, that is! I guess I need to start bringing my camera with me/us all the time.
