Clubman Capture Contest

And with the new year, comes the winner of our Clubman Capture Contest!

DONNA!!! with a whopping 69 points! https://img3.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile.../party0003.gif

Thank you to all who participated. I trust you all had a great time hunting wild Clubman this past year. I know I sure did! https://img3.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile...umping0001.gif

Even though the official contest has come to an end, feel free to continue to post pics (although I'll no longer update the leaderboard at risk of further annoying my wife https://img3.mysmiley.net/imgs/smile...scared0012.gif. Thanks again to all who took part in this experiment. Here is the original post and leaderboard for posterity:

Here's the contest!

Since almost everyone has cellphones with cameras these days, I thought it would be fun to see WHO COULD CAPTURE THE MOST CLUBMANS on their phones by the END OF THE YEAR.

A few simple rules:

* These must be Clubmans "in the wild" (No cheating - No camping out in front of MINI dealerships, No pictures from any MINI gatherings, you get the idea)
* Your own Clubman does not count
* TWO POINTS will be awarded for pictures of Clubmans on the street/highway. ONE POINT will be awarded for pictures of parked Clubmans
* Post your pics as you take them. I'll keep a running score.
* Please include a brief description of where the picture was taken.

Above all, stay safe while in pursuit of your Clubman and have fun. Can't wait to see your pics :thumbsup

Hmm, they've been sparse in my life lately, but I'll try to remember to keep my camera at the ready. Glad it's got a pretty big viewing screen.

Another rule I suggest:

* Any photo taken by the driver while moving will lead to immediate disqualification.

So how are any of us to take a picture then. Plus there seems to be an unfair advantage to those that live say in Florida or LA. How are those of us that live over 70 miles from a dealership and see, if lucky one other MINI of any type every two-three weeks.

I guess i will have to do a lot more driving

I'm going to leave this at each person's discretion. So if you can take a picture and drive safely  more power to you...for example, here's one I took a few days ago. It won't count, cause it wasn't a clubman, but you get the idea.

I personally don't have any issues taking pics while driving. In fact, I think this is how I've seen the majority of the MINI's I see. Like I said, I'm going to leave it at each person's discretion. If you don't want to do it, you don't have to.

Ultimately, I see this as being something that is more on the FUN side and less on the competitive side.

Sorry for those living in rural areas, I understand you'll have less opportunities for sightings, but this will give you THAT much more pride in the sightings you DO capture

Can't take a pic while driving? Where's the fun in that?

Took this last Friday while leaving work...in SoCal...very exciting! I'm on for this challenge!!

Parkerton 08-22-2008 10:46 PM

Congrats HTClubman! You're the 1st on the board!

HTClubman 08-22-2008 10:56 PM

 ...I'm soooo excited! Yah for me!!! (and rasputinj, as he was with me in the car!). My mission this weekend is to find another!!! - without camping outside of the Mini dealership...

Ooooooh yeah!!! My first Clubman sighting in the wild....captured on film (ahem! memory card).

Taken in Fremont, CA on Decoto on Saturday. If the owner of this PW/B Clubman is on NAM, I was the one that turned right in the CR/S Clubman

beasleyboy 08-24-2008 06:16 PM

Dang, I can't. Up to right now, the ONLY Clubman I've seen is one that was on the highway as I was driving home from work. Maybe I should be glad since I'll have little trouble finding Kazzie in the parking lot when I leave the shopping mall!

Parkerton 08-25-2008 09:56 AM

Anyone capture any shots this weekend?

HTClubman 08-25-2008 10:01 AM

I tried REALLY hard...even taking extra time to scout out any parking lot I was in. Thought I saw one while driving and flipped a U-Turn to check, but it wasn't one - just a regular MINI.

But, I'll keep looking! I love a good challenge and competition (and seeing Clubmans in 'the wild')!

wampa 08-25-2008 10:41 AM

I saw one about 5 minutes before you started this thread on Friday.

HTClubman 08-25-2008 12:16 PM

wampa - you need to photograph it! That's the key here!

I thought my phrase was clear. "I saw one BEFORE this thread was started."

I haven't seen one since.

HTClubman 08-25-2008 12:31 PM

Always be prepared...I'm sure you took a mental pix!

dvhone 08-27-2008 12:38 PM

Shouldn't license plates be blotted out? I'd want mine to be blotted if anyone snapped my (yet to be ordered) Clubman...

Parkerton 08-27-2008 01:09 PM

I personally don't have any problems with license plates being shown since your plate is open to the public to see. However, I'll encourage future pictures to blot out the license plate if it's legible to be on the safe side. In the meantime, I'll take down the pic of the Clubman above and get it blotted out.

MiniBoz 08-27-2008 03:19 PM

Haven't seen a single Clubman in Harrisburg:wink:.

Guess mine will be one of the first!

Rasputinj and I were talking about this topic on the way to work...what is the issue with the plates showing? Just curious? We've ordered vanity plates (HT CLBMN) and I'm sure I won't be blacking them out when I post. Educate me!

Joep 08-27-2008 06:49 PM

Put my name in the hat. I was coming home from the grocery store and I was shocked to see this NFR/S Clubman pass in front of me. I had to race down our brethern and get this pic....
