2009 Sport Package?

Well, this is now not available until December 2008 for order. Anyone have any ideas what will be in this package for 2009 and and the cost? For me, the sport package saved me money in my mock 2008 builds because otherwise I added the tires, LSD, etc. separately which added up to more than the package.

Just wondering if anyone had any sources of information, as this is giving my wife and I a bit of a pause. We would like to queue up early, but may hold off until we can get this as part of the order...

The sport package that is not available until Dec. only applies to the '09 models. If you are still able to order an '08 from your dealer, you can get the sport package that was available for the '08's without any wait. Contact your dealer for the specs and cost of the package.
If you are going for an '09 model, then... yeah... that package won't be available till Dec.

Thanks. I realize it isn't available until Dec - I don't mind waiting *if* the sport package will be similarly priced (+- 500) and has 17" wheels, suspension, elsd, etc.

If they do the same thing they did with the comfort / access package and charge more for less...then I'd be tempted to order now and take a 2008. Just trying to figure out what will be in the package and $$.

The MINI USA configurator lists the contents of the Cooper S Sport Package as Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), xenon headlamps with power washers, bonnet stripes, white turn signals and a choice of 17" Crown-spoke or Web-spoke wheels.

I would assume that pricing would still be about $1500 (add $500 for Web-spoke wheels).

I would recommend to wait for 09 sport package if you like the xenon headlamps. 08 sport package has no xenon but has sport suspension (this is the only year that this package has no xenon headlamps). We made the mistake of not reading the online spec carefully and assume xenon headlamps was included when we ordered our 08 MCS. The dealer only has 07 catalog and xenon was included.

Also, for 09 models, DSC is now std for MCS and MC and added DTC in its sport package now.

I was under the impression that the 2008 Model Year was sold out. I think I saw a press release on that or something.

The Sport Package for 2008 does include Xenon headlamps, at least for the Clubman.

I thought so too a week ago, but I lucked out and was able to order a 2008 just this past Saturday. It's already in production with expected completion August 10. My MA told me I was at the right place at the right time. Don't know if there is still a chance for '08s now - all I know is that my MA had to put in my build specs that same day.

The MINI website has been updated to allow you to order the sport package. It costs the same as last year, but now the sport suspension is not part of it. Instead, you get clear turn signals and Dynamic Traction Control with eLSD. Interestingly, you can get a mechanical limited slip differential on top of the electronic one. I'm having trouble figuring out how that would work.

My car for 2009 would cost $1000 extra. For that amount of money, I would gain DTC and clear turn signals. Hardly seems worth it.

Midnight black is also now available.
