Anyone install colored shifter boot and e-brake

I stopped by the dealer to get a quote on the install of a HC shifter ****, boot, e-brake handle, and e-brake boot.

I was quoted $236 for the shifter boot/know and $115 for e-brake handle/boot, all parts and labor. I see on the configurator that the shifter boot is about $65, but the **** is not listed. The e-brake handle also shows the handle, but not the boot.

So has anyone installed both of these items and knows the costs for the whole setup? I am trying to determine if the labor is excessive, which I suspect it is. I would be happy to do it myself if its not terribly involved as I would hate to disassemble (and break) my new car when it arrives.

The plastic trim ring at the base of the shifter is snapped into place and with a little care can be removed without breaking the little barbs around the edge that holds it in place. The e-brake is easy, the plastic base holding it in place can be pinched in the middle with little effort exposing the other barbs that secure it. A carefull look at the plastic e-brake ends that come with the new boot will give you a claer idea how that's held in place. Easy job.

Not hard. Just takes a little patience. I replaced my factory boots with leather boots from redline. I used the following pages for instructions.

I paid it and had the dealer install mine along with the tuscan steering wheel.

Are you getting chrome interior? If so, the HC boot that you order will have a grey trim ring and you will need to swap it with the chrome one that comes with the chrome option.

If you're not getting the chrome, I recommend that you consider it, it really dresses up the interior.

I will ask the dealer to break out the labor from the parts. I would hope I am not paying $75 an hour (for example) to have skippy the gopher kid install it.

LadyGodiva, any idea what the parts alone ran you? I would really like the steering wheel to, but all told that must be about $1,000 in accessories.

Steering wheel $400 + 90 installation

Shift **** + boot total $200 installed (the $65 on the configurator does NOT include the boot!)

E-Brake + boot total $208.50 installed (the $49 on the configurator does NOT include the boot!)

Grand total 898.50

Pricey? probably. Worth it? HELL YES, I love how it brings the interior together. Check out my gallery for pics!
