What's the email shorthand for applause? Really happy for you. I'm a few days behind (the ship docks on Wednesday, so I expect delivery next week) so post some photos asap -- every new PW shot helps pass the time.

Will do! I am going to go down there tonight and see if I can take some pics. Most of the new cars that are custom ordered are kept on the covered roof so people can't see them, but maybe it will be out on the lot or in a service bay that I can look through the window!!

LOL!

How's this for a segue - the local light opera group here is doing 'The Wizard of Oz' this summer; I'll be playing in the pit (trombone of course - see my user name). Rehearsals start next week; performances in August. And the best part - the wife's new MINI (PW, naturally) should arrive around 7-19

Now we can order the personalized plate! We'll decide that tonight and order it. Never been one for personalized plates before, but something about the car says we need one :-)

We know ours will have something to do with SKA music, which will make it weird enough, as most people don't listen to or know what SKA music is. But, the two-tone color of the car, combined with all the checkered flag motifs just screams SKA to both my wife and I (and we both love SKA music...)

Probably whatever we choose, unless you know something about SKA music,it'll just seem like a weird plate choice... but that's okay with us

I can't order my plates until I have my current license plate number and tab expiration date.... Bummer.... I knew it needed a lot of current info but I forgot it needed those, which I can't get until I get my plates in a week or so...

Oh well, hopefully no one else in WA takes what I want...

Here is a brief history of SKA music on youtube, with some good band examples as well as why it came about.

(I tried to embed it in the post, but the youtube author won't allow it, so you'll just have to click the link)

No Doubt is probably the most famous ska influenced band.

Mr Silverblood,
Do you have a production number yet? I'm getting pretty antsy since they cashed my deposit check six weeks ago and still no confirmation from the factory that my baby is in the queue. I'll be joining the Pepper White Clubman Owner's Club too!

Not bad... I love all kinds of music but never really pay any attention to the genre, just kind of listen to whatever I feel like at the moment depending on my mood.

I would say SKA is a mix of big band and alternative... that's what it sounds like IMO. I like it, and I would agree that No Doubt is a good example!

Thanks for sharing with me!

yes, that's a mostly accurate assessment, but alternative came from SKA music. The Ska scene in England in the last 70's, along with Punk, helped to form New Wave, which became 'alternative'. Rocksteady and Reggae also spawned from the early Ska. In the late 70's, early 80's, The Clash played many Ska songs, but with a slightly more punk tinge to it. Pretty much, I love the whole late 70's early 80's english music scene.

(I'm also just a huge lover of music in general. my music collection is huge and varied. I listen to most all types of music and enjoy most of it as well, I just like Ska best. but, I do have lots of Motown, HipHop, R&B, Alt, Rock, Classic Country (Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, etc.).. pretty much everything except for contemporary country. I just don't find that music compelling for some reason)

To all of us in the PW Clubman Owners Club.... we simply have the best looking cars on the road. I love all MINIs... but the PW Clubmans just have this special something the rest of them don't have. They have this regal quality that makes them so easy to enjoy.

I'm proud to be a PW Clubby Owner, I hope you all are as well!

Hopefully, I am mere days from motoring. "Owner" will mean so much more when the car is sitting in the driveway.

I have not yet seen a bad looking Mini. I even like HC -- although I don't typically like brown. Minis can do that, i guess.

But, for me, I like the contrast between the black and white. It's even more emphasized on the cars I've seen here with stripes.

As a side note, I also like that PW never seems to look dirty, which seems strange to say.

Well I ordered mine two days ago now. Clubman S PW/B with the tan leather interior and an assortment of packages, etc. Advisor told me that it won't be here until late Oct (Otto's, West Chester, PA) which makes it a 2009 model. This will be replacing my PW/B 2002 MC. Needed some more room in the rear for the car seat (hopefully soon to be booster seat).

Funny thing happened again when I went to order it. Had the intention of ordering a sparkling silver/black and changed my mind when I got to the dealership. They had a PW/B Clubman S sitting in there and it just looked soooo classic. PW again I said! This also happened the first time when I went to order my 2002 MC.

This color just doesn't photograph as well as the color looks in person. And oh yeah, it can get dirty .

FYI: this will now be my 3rd Mini. Also motoring around in a 2008 Cabrio S. Now that's a fun car .
