Tech Manuals

Does anyone have any idea where I could get my hands on a tech manual for a 2006 Cabrio. Bentley Publishing makes one for MC/MCS 's up to '04, but that is the best that I can find. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

P.S. Love the car.

Let me join you in wondering the same thing. I'll purchase a shop manual when I can find it.

Bently makes one:

As does Haynes:

the haynes is cheaper but, I hear, is not quite as complete. Of course, unless you're really doing serious work, you probably don't need such a thorough manual.

Outmotoring did a write-up of the bently guide here:

http://www.outmotoring.com/mini_coop...ce_manual.html

I know these are older, but they should be very close. other than that, if you really must have an '06, I'd just search on Bently's and Haynes' sites- I'm sure that they'll send out notice when the new edition comes out. I'm not sure of they make a Cabrio-specific edition.

Let us know what you get and how you like it! I'm seriously considering buying one myself...

afraid not... The Bently and Hayes don't cover the 06 or 05 Cabrio. There was a thread on this in the last 90 days or so. I don't believe there is any manual for these cars.

Well, the generic Mini manual should cover most situations though, right? Engine and transmission wise, as well as suspension wise, they should be almost identical. Some of the roof-specific things will be different, but I can't see too many people tryingto do weird mods or self-service on the roof or controls (although a one-press, auto-open modification for the switch would be a welcome addition)...

Just reading some of the topics here on NAM it seems there are some slight differences with the suspension (rear only?). I would think though that most everything else would be the same (unless you start looking for your antenna above your boot).

The campaign to get Bentely to publish an update.
At this point they have agree to make one and will be working on it "soon"

There are many many differeances between the 04s and the 05-06s before there is even the switch to the cabrio, the more one works on both cars, the more apperant this fact becomes. There are even changes in what screws and fuses are used in various components, small parts that make big differances. The cabrio does have an extra bolt in the rear suspension, also some of the wiring harness (roof, brakes boot etc.) are different than the hardtop (which still was changed from 04), which can be a big deal if snag or pinch qiring harnesses.

I just hope they do it soon as I have less than 3k left under warranty and have beeen in for many minor things (some repeats) and will need to know how to fix those fairly soon.

According to the Haynes website, their manual "Covers major mechanical features of Cabriolet."
http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/s...egory_rn=10215
However, one of the vendors (MiniMania?) lists it as not including convertibles. I already have the Bentley but I've heard that the Haynes has better electrical diagrams so I plan to get it anyway, but I don't know whether it really does cover the convertible.

I have the TIS service CD-ROM from BMW, and have found it useful. Search on motors.ebay.com for "BMW TIS". The latest ones on eBay only go up to 12/2004 builds, but include the convertible. It was very useful for showing me how to remove trim from the convertible boot when I was installing the OEM rear view camera. The user interface is terrible, really awkward to find the information you need, but it has essential information and the price is low (I'm sure all the copies on eBay are bootlegged).
