2006 Hot Metallic Orange R52 "Jack O"

Picked up a Hot Metallic Orange R52. 164k and a bit rough around the edges..it definitely needs some love. Has a interesting wooden dash trim and wheel that the original owner apparently added onto the vehicle when it was purchased, $1200 option!

Maintenance work done so far:
  • Valve cover gasket
  • Oil pan gasket
  • Oil cooler & filter housing gaskets
  • Crank position sensor O-ring
  • Low mileage power steering rack & pump, new lines
  • Low mileage Supercharger
  • All new ball joints
  • Cabin Air Filter(I don't think it's ever been replaced)
The Goods(not everything is installed yet)
  • Whiteline Control Arm Bushings
  • Superpro Steering Rack Bushing
  • Superpro 24mm Sway Bar Bushings
  • Rockstar Compact AOS with Vibrant fittings & Flex Hose
  • Invidia N1 Catback w/Burnt Tips
  • ALTA Adjustable Tensioner Stop
  • ALTA Supercharger Pulley 17%

Awesome find, I have that dash in my HO R52 Convertible, its super rare, i dont have the steering wheel, that's even rarer, its real wood. The panels in that Generation were made in france and are plastic, but look very good.

They also made red, which is the fastest color.

Nice find on the mini, enjoy the modification ride!

A beauty. Suggest adding supercharger service to your to-do list. Should have been done ~100K but would be good idea to do it again even if it was.

OldYank-Not sure if you're making suggestion to me or original post....I've recently done the supercharger service during a water pump replacement. Attaching the invoice for others reference (and astonishment). I'm the third owner. Car was from Florida. I plan to have the car a long while...like forever...so I put in new parts so that I know what I've got. Wouldn't have bought the car if I didn't think she was a "beauty." We were due for a convertible finally but the return to euro-cars after a respite (previously owned VW Scirocco 16V red, bought new/Mercedes 190/Saab 9-5/Audi 4000/Audi A4, new/BMW 535is) has been a sore reminder of how painful used euro-car ownership can be. My Mazda CX9 new/Toyota Prius/Ford C-Max new/Pontiac Vibe GT have been relatively ownership easy by comparison. Except for the Pontiac (6spd Toyota VVT-i motor-loved it) they are pleasant but not "fun" to drive. Need the fun factor in my life.

There seems to be a small collection of "pumpkin" R52 around me (MA) per this post topic. Definitely a New England color. We should probably plan a gathering/drive of the "pumpkins." I recently noticed someone in my neighborhood has a "pumpkin" R52 too. I know of a "cruise night" at Cobb Corner Sharon MA (parking lot of new Walgreens, former Rite-Aid) every Thurs night I think as one possible thought.

before signal LED lighting upgrade, improvised the weather-strip seal at air box until I can source a new one inexpensively

My son's artistic ability.

Definitely an "ouch" moment.

Hi, You are correct in that I was responding to OP. Sadly, my 05 R52 has gone to Maine to a new owner. I'm on the outlook for a replacement, but with an auto trans. Of course, it must also be a pumpkin! I found one in Florida, but it broke on the test drive and I could not stay around until the dealer could have it repaired (and I was gun shy anyway because of the failure). Still looking, and would like to participate in a pumpkin patch.

Get a manual transmission. More reliable and fun to drive.
