Need info on finding a replacement drivers seat pad?

Hi,
Brand new to this site , my GF just purchased a 2005 Convertible, the drives seat (where your butt rests) pad had its stitching let go. Seats are blue and perhaps there was a trusted used parts vendor around who would have a nice used one, or where to look. To have it restiched oersonally I think it would be a waste of time. The PO did include the new foam that goes inside.

Even better is there a MINI online parts fiche that I could possibly just order a new cover so I can use the new foam.

She does not to use seat covers would rather replace with OEM. I believe that color is sapphire blue?

Any ideas always welcome ;-)

... you mean something like this?

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=52_3200

Several options, Finding a Salvage Yard with seats you can swap out with... replacing the whole seat is a little easier than replacing the cover if you have to experience working with upholstery.

Best of luck.

Motor On!

Not sure if he'll sell only the part you're looking for, or even if the seats are still available, but you can check here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4402404

Says red stitching, but I think they only had one blue with red/orange stitching combo. ECS knows a lot about the options and accessories so you can check with him to see if they should be the same.

Thanks for the mention RB-MINI

Yep, the R52 came with the leather blue seats and orange stitching as an option.

Do they look like this? Sunrise orange stitching and blue seats

It was a rare option, the sister seats of the sunrise orange cloth/blue combo.

After you see the price, you'll start wondering if duct tape might work...

Yes, the seats covers have always been pretty high in price. The USA recaros piece by piece are some of the most expensive seats i have seen. Sometimes a good leather shop that does upholstery and custom cars can fix these, i have seen custom seats back in the day of the Gen 1 MINIs done at dealerships and they looked pretty good. That used to be the thing back in the day.

Thank you, yes the seat only needs stiches replaced all the holes are still good and we did get the new replacement seat form from the PO.

I'm in Chicago and there are many car shops in the area that do this type of work. Problem is that she has to take the car in to get a few estimates prior to deciding which route to take. Being its a convertible pulling the seat is very simple so its wait and see.

Thanks and we will keep you in mind

Yes, i would find one that works on euro cars and maybe BMW's as the seat designs and seat manufacturers are the same, so they will know how to seam it like factory.

Just the seat foam?? [R53, Sport Seats, 9/2004 prod date]

Hope someone can take a moment to help me out.

I have a 2005 MCS, it has the "481-Sport seat, front driver/front passenger" option specified on the build sheet.

I need just the DRIVERS seat bottom foam because mine is a bit sacked out, but not torn, from 140k miles of use.

Is this available as just the foam part that goes under the leather? the build date on my car was Sept 22, 2004.

I'll be going with the LeatherSeats.com full leather upholstery kit for the car to freshen things up.

It seems like there is a break in the production years... but realoem shows this page and fit for this part??
Is this the correct item? PN 52107131486 ??
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=52107131486

Any help you can lend is much appreciated!

Any experienced upholstery shop can fix the cover no problem and for a LOT less than a new one. Take the seat to them and it will be even less.

I agree with this. I took the passenger seat from my '06 convertible in to an upholstery shop to get the side seam on the seat back stitched up after the original stitching gave out (very common problem, BTW). He charged $75 to stitch it up.

Thank you, Exactly what I wanted!

I've had great luck with the leather kits from LeatherSeats.com ... and wanted my butt to be happy too.
Most seats in the used Minis with more than 60000 miles, or 13 years like mine, have less than ideal seat foam on the drivers side and it's noticeable when you drive for a while.

The driver's seat is pretty flat on my '06 with over 210k miles. I'm really tempted to pick up a replacement cushion. I didn't imagine that the part would be available. Maybe a good project while it is hibernating for the winter.

Anyone tried doing this themselves? The instructions in the link above are pretty basic. I don't have seat warmers in my car so that would simplify the change out a little I would think.

Yea, a good cushion under the driver is a GREAT thing indeed.
It fills out the upholstery better, looks nicer.... and makes the car even more enjoyabl to drive.... the slow decline of the foam isn't noticeable till you sit in a good seat, regardless of brand IMO... Heavy guys notice this even more.

I think there is a reason MINI only sells the Drivers side foam by itself
