Smallest size rims?

Ok i got a 06 Cooper S Converteable and was wondering what was the smallest rim i can fit, i curently have the 16s and i know 15s will fit since the stock cooper has same brakes and runs a 15 but will 14s fit?

Oh and if your wondering why i want more tire i keep beding rims on the country back roads around here that the dot dont want to fix the pot holes.

15 is ok as long as you do not have a bbk/jcw brakes...
14 has been tried...does not work unless you had HUGE spacers...
15's are fine...I run them for winters and early/late season all season touring tires before going to my summers tires on 16's.

The OEM 15" wheels will fit the Cooper and Cooper S with the stock brakes. 14" wheels most likely will not fit. I know people have tried to fit old 14" steelies from other makes and hits the caliper on the front.

If you are bending wheels might be good to go with some 15" steelies. There are factory covers, or you can do the center caps. Or full covers.

Here are some options which people use for snow wheel. But could be done with steels / all seasons or summers for year round depending on your location. 175/65/ 15 is the stock tire size.

These are good for Gen 1 MINIs without the factory JCW front caliper.

This is great for the 4x100 silver face wheel to match, I am running the same set up on the factory siilvers.

Can you use 195/65-15 tire size on this wheel? Also what is the weight of the steel wheel?

The 15" steels wheel weigh ~15.05 lbs each.

The stock size is 175/65/15 .

Look for a tire sizing calculators. Running a wider tire with the same aspect ratio will usually be a taller tire.

Or you can look for the tire forums :

Thanks

I put the silver steelies with the silver center cap (part number 36131512571) on my wife's 2007 Justa during the winter with snow tires. They work and look very good. However, she doesn't have to contend with many potholes, so I can't vouch for their durability in that area. My only complaint is that the wheels are showing lots of rust. Our roads have lots of salt, but I've had much older steel wheels on other cars that never showed rust like these.

You can get 15' alloys from folks that buy gen2 coopers, then upgrade to a bigger rim....
Then, depending on how hard you want to work, you can have the tires of your choice mounted, then sell the tires (sometimes almost new oem) and sell the gen2 tpms...on a gen1 you can use regular rubber valve stems since they use the abs sensors to count rpms to monitor tire psi...
You can end up with "almost" free oem 15' alloys if you get ok $$ for the sensors+tires.....

The stock size for a 2006 non-S Convertible is 175/65-15. This is not true for an S and the owner's manual lists no 15" tire size approved for the S.

A gen1 s has the same front brakes as a cooper....
The 15 rim..stock can run a 185 or 195 width tire fine...it is a 5.5 width rim.

Nice. The Imola wheel, just to let some people know is also known as Hollies or phone dials . Also called by MINI the R81 Wheel 7 hole.

Nice light wheel and a good winter wheel if you do aluminum in a 15". They come in silver & white.
