How is much is the r52 different?
Ok so I have a 2008 Cabrio. Every time I look at CAI setups I'm steered to turbo parts. Should I assume it is and 07, 06 or what? I know they kept the first gen until 09, but didn't anything change? Are any parts unique to Cabrio's? Or are they first Gens with a different top only? So to speak.

Yes, the 1st gen convertible and hardtop use the same engine and suspension parts. Look for parts that fit a 2006 hardtop R53 (S) or R50 (non-S). Or simply look up parts for a 2006 R52. Many vendors mislabel parts for the '07-'08 convertible because of the confusion with '07-'08 hardtop.

Yup...most any 2006 r50 hardtop (non s) or r53 hardtop (s) will fit....
Just get the one that matches up with your motor...and plug it in....(to the parts meanu)....and enjoy the parts!!
Just pay attention to the tranny....with some items under the hood, auto/ manual can make a bit of a difference fittment wise....

Yep,
On the Convertible Cooper ( Non S ) with the intakes because of the design on the transmission, the stock OEM transmission air box has a triangle design for the manual and square design for the automatics.
When checking out the 2005-2008 Convertible , make sure its a Gen 1 R52 Chassis.
Here is a picture for reference on the Cooper Convertible (non s).

The R52 also has a good bit of under body bracing not found on the R50/53 hard tops.So if you are in the market for some suspension related stuff, keep in mind you may have a few extra bolts/parts to remove.
