+1 on the milteck...sounds great!! Just slightly louder than the jcw (will also fit, as will any other exaust that will fit a 2005+ r53....
Cheaper exausts tend to drone...so in my findings, if you want decent sound, no drone, the milteck/stratos clone is the way to go. The diff between the pre2005 s exaust is an extra crimp in a pipe, and slightly different hanger locations...the crimp is there to clear an extra stiffining bracket on the gen1 that was included on all gen1 s's once cabrio production was started since they shared a production line.

That milltek for the R52 is the best for the cabrio. not too loud, makes good torque and actually fits. With the cabrio bracing non of the other exhaust clear them properly so you end up with rattles and noises.

I've got the Milltek on my convertible and have been quite happy with it.

Get a couple spacer blocks made up then you can run any exhaust you want on it At least that's what I did. After realizing the exhaust that was claimed to fit the cabrio didn't fit

If you want to make a Milltek louder you can remove the resonator, or add a high flow header. Starting with a loud exhaust is really hard to quiet it down.
