Fun in the sun but

.... How is it in the rain. Reason I ask is that we are about to move to The Seattle area and our beloved R52 would be my wife's dailydriver. She is quite concerned and feels that the combination of daily rain, the rear visibility (or lack thereof) w/ no rear wipers and the canvas in the rear quarter is going to be hard on her ... That too driving in a big city after all these years of a sunny weather small town traffic. We both hate to sell our pristine sidewalk convertible (if anything it would be a swap for a R53) but is it a bad idea to hold on to it. Any ideas to improve visibility and make driving safe in rainy country would be most appreciated. I'm thinking of giving a few weeks with Autobahn mirror that Griots garage sells and RainX for the rear window (to bead water off) for starters.

I removed the rear wiper on my old car (Nissan 300ZX) and applied RainX instead - did a good job at speed - my only complaint was if the car was parked outside during a rain shower the water would bead but not run off ... the rear window on that car is much more horizontal than a Mini so I would think RainX would do a good job

LOL...LOL...I have a better idea for you. If you came from a small town with nice sunny weather and you're moving to Seattle you're in for a shock. Nothing but rain/dreary weather and traffic that is one of the worst in the US. I'd change my moving plans!!

Add the multivex mirrors and you'll never worry about this again.

Multivex mirrors should be standard equipment on ALL cars. No more blind spots.

Where can you get the Multivex for the R53 Cabriolet?

I lived in Seattle 2 years and I would not hesitate to have my Mini there.

I would, however, be sure to park in a garage so the top could dry-out. Do not fold down the top until the canvas has dried-out. The draw-back would be visibility of a larger blind spot.

Thank u guys. Multivex mirrors ordered. I hope it works out for my wife. We absolutely would not want to lose our pristine beauty. Although my wife loves the clubman's barn doors ( the most likely substitute we have in mind) psychologically I am not ready (and dont think will ever be ) for a R53/55
