I purchased the seat belt holders recently (one week ago) and am not happy with them. I assume that since I own a convertible these fit differently. The angle of extraction/retraction causes the belt to fold and/or flip upside down which binds it. Were these not really intended for the convertible?

found exactly the same problem as you with belt folding and even the holder snapping in two, thinking about getting some polished metal ones made up as the genuine part suck, will post some pics when i've done them, regards Andy

 

I also was very dissatisfied with the performance and durability of this part; in fact, mine broke. I didn't purchase from Moss Mini, but I returned them to the suplier and received a full refund. Basically, a very poor design .....

 

I was contemplating buying them--no more -thanks for the info.

bought some and installed them on my mini convert. ten minutes later stopped to get lunch, put the seats down and they both broke!!!! I have to get in touch with Moss to see what's up with that.

 

This product is a total joke. I was laughing so hard at the item description.

"You can finally have the convenience of having your seatbelt at your fingertips without having to search! Also keeps the belt in view as you get in your Mini to Motor, to remind you that safety is the law and important. Only meant to be used as a belt guide - please don't use as a hook for your purse or allow small children to swing from it."

 

Agreed on the uselessness of the after market offerings for a seat belt guide. After purchasing our second Mini (Clubman-Hyde Park), I decided enough was enough and looked for something out-of-the-box. Found these and thought they didn't look too bad (from a 2008 Chevy Cobalt). Ordered the parts new from my local Chevy dealer, $16 for the left and $12 for the right. Just one hole to drill to line up the headrest holes and (as the English say) "Bob's your uncle". These molded plastic so they should be very durable and should not break.

 

Disregard, just found an alternative.

In your search for alternatives, did any of you find a replacement for the little dammit that fits over the strap to keep the clip from sliding clear down to the floor when the belt is returned to the spool?

 

No but you can just use one of those seat belt comfort clips that you can get at any auto parts store or car wash. They should do the same job (if you notice on the driver side, we have one.

I purchased a matched set in black:

GM OEM 10385983 Front Seat-Seat Belt Guide Drivers Side
GM OEM 10386174 Front Seat-Seat Belt Guide Passenger Side

Elongated one hole on each with Dremel to fit Mini Headrests.

Works great to hold seatbelt up; no more slipping down. Looks OEM and seems strong enough to last for years.

Thanks BandB for dredging this back up. I had learned to live with the postition of the belts until this. I ordered the Cobalt parts from GMPartsdirect this evening for $30.73 shipped. Looking forward to this convenience mod. Thanks again.

 

So had my wife and I. Everyone who's tried them likes them a lot. Post pics

 

They arrived this weekend and it only took me 20 minutes to have them drilled and installed. No pics tho. I'll find out when I drive it this coming week how well they make a difference (not my only mode of transport).

 

I am so glad I am not the only one with this problem....so irritating.
