hey everyone,

i've been thinking about adopting a MCO, MINI2, BRIDGER.US-MINI
specific wave or greeting to flash when we see another mini on the road.

this way we'll be waving to non-community motorers,
and identifying ourselves to member motorers.

what do you think?

i'm thinking of a 4-fingered wave, palm facing outward,
thumb tucked over the palm.

yeas or nays?

cheers,
S-

... that's a good idea .... there was another thread awhile ago (that i can't find) that debated this - everything was mentioned, including shaking sock monkies at each other, without resolution on anything in particular ...

... what i am finding alot is that, while i try to wave at every MINI i see, most drivers seem to be oblivious and don't notice the MINI coming toward them in the opposing lane - so it wouldn't matter What wave was decided upon ...

edit: Found it ... https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...amp;topic=4799

hmm...sad to hear that there was no resolution before.

i had 2 instances this weekend where i had a mini
in front of me on the highway, where we exchanged
traditional waves.

i thought it would be nice to differentiate them
as MCOers or whatnot.

---

i refuse to carry a sock monkey in my car!

hahahhaha.
i just bought a sock monkey for my dog recently!
maybe the one fingered salute would be best, at least
we'd know that only the members would do this!
i couldn't imagine many people not in the know would flick
off other mini drivers!

... i had a WRX owner flip me off the other day (btw ... are they All Blue?!) as we passed each other ... in spite of all the subaru bashing here (and maybe MINI bashing on their sites?) , i didn't know we were supposed to be enemies ...

We are all driving a British car. Don't you think we should do the palm inward peace sign that is so offensive in the U.K.?

I've had my car almost 10 months now, and still can't find the horn fast enough to beep at another MINI

I feel bad that most of the time I can't salute the fellow motorers because I fly by them so fast (or they by me). I'll try the V though. I like.

alright...so far we have everyone (all 4 or 5 of us) more or less agreeing
to the non-peace sign 'flying v'...
---

lizzy! i agree!
i keep smacking the mini logo in the middle of the wheel...
and nothing comes out!
i'm afraid i'm gonna crack the damn thing.

I think some type of recognition to identify members while on the road is great idea. Not sure about if we've hit on the right salute, but lets keep throwing out suggestions.

Would a traditional American-style palm-outward Peace sign be too common to serve as a recognition? Certainly, if half the drivers giving you a peace sign are just ex-hippies and not MCO'ers, then it doesn't do us any good...

You beat me to it.. I like this one - I hope it won't offend our fellow motorers from the UK. There aren't many Americans who know it - must would just think "peace sign"

I can just picture John Cleese giving his wife the "salute" in Faulty Towers

I've been giving the Queen style wave. Hand cupped moving side to side. Others have replied with the same in return, and some laughed.
Cheers,
