After May 2006

I was wondering why a lot of websites ask if 'your' Mini Cooper S was made before or after May 2006? Mine was made 11/2006; but I didnt know if there were any differences between mine and the ones made before May 2006.

Thanks

There must be some thing different. I know they ask the same thing for my 04 MC which is a 4/04.

Why ask about mfg date?

MINI frequently makes changes to the cars during the yearly production. In the case of the 06 somewhere around the middle of the year some changes were made to the suspension. The brakes were changed to a larger size (JCW?) and the wheel bolts were changed from 12 mm to 14 mm but no one knows why. The change to a larger wheel bolt makes a difference as to what wheels will fit and I am still trying to figure that one out. The bigger brakes are a plus I had not counted on but I was due a good surprise. The bad surprise is the shock tower that is suspect so the M7 SRP's are going on next week at the dragon. There may be other changes that I know nothing about.

How much bigger are our brakes than the earlier 06's? Do you have details on what suspension changes where made? Will the M7 lowering springs not work on the later 06's? I was planning on purchasing those soon along with wheels.

Ozarkroots you say yours is a 06 but the image is an 07 MCS, i think you are talking about an 07 that was made in late 06 but its still an 07 body. I dont want people to confuse a early to mid 06 with an 07 that was made in late 06

I noticed the 07 in his sig too. Mine is an R53, but was still made in November of 2006. Anyone know when they stopped production on the R53's?

Well, if he really has an 07, he's gonna have trouble adding that 15% Webb pully

Mine is a 3/06 production, and I have the 'old style lugs' and I have M7 springs on it. I have installed a set of M7 springs on a 7/06 pro date. They work with the new 'style' lugs!!!
