When the warranty is over...

I have about 200 miles left on my factory warranty

Should I be getting worried? The power steering pump, brakes and clutch have already been replaced so I guess that is good news...

Have those of you with high mileage had any bad out-of-warranty experiences or should I be confident about keeping my car? Thanks

Any cloudy lights, headlights or otherwise?, the seat mechanisims are expensive to fix ,do your front seats move out of the way OK when getting to the back? Do your windows go up and down OK? How about the speakers are they buzzy/blown?Heater controls working ? Any squeaks? Are the seats cracked or excessively worn? All these things can be repaired /replaced under warranty ,better hurry up

Hi,

I just purchased 2003 BRG Mini Cooper with automatic 2 weeks ago with 42,995 mileage and two month warranty from Toyota Carlsbad dealership. I forgot to ask the dealer about this warranty. I want to know if my car is having a problem, do I have to bring the car where I purchased or I can go to Mini to be fixed? The dealer said that the warranty covered two months but I just read that Mini covered for 4 years/50,000 miles. What should I do?

Also, since I'm deaf and this car seems running fine but should I set an appointment to have a mechanic to take a look and see if everything ok or not?

Thanks and look forward to hear (see) your inputs.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am okay on all those fronts, except the inevitable few rattles

Hey 03, welcome!
You might want to check with your local MINI dealer to see what the in-service date is for your car. A lot of these cars run out of time before running out of mileage. Sounds like maybe your warranty is thru your selling dealer, so any repairs would have to go thru them (?)
Yes, having a trusted mechanic check over your car sounds like a good idea.

You make me wonder if I should be the one worring, the only thing on that list that I have replaced are the brakes, and that was at ~135,000 miles.......

Thanks 3,

I've been reading some posts regarding with problems on Mini, mostly about CVT (automatic) and power steering. Is there anything else more common problems that I need to be aware of?

I've turned down extended warranty because I assumed it is a great car from BMW and this car look like a brand new. I don't know if it is too late to ask for an extended warranty or is it worth it. I would take care of this car like a baby and keep it for a long time.

Have a mechanic perform a thorough inspection anyway. Call Brecht Service (they are awesome IMO and experience). Courtney is a doll. Tell her what you have, see what the in-service date was, and what your options are for an extended warranty. She may not have all the answers, but you can count on her to get the answers or put you in touch with the folks that can.

And HI! Welcome to MINI. If you see a blonde in a CR MCSC on the Freeway waving at you insanely with an ear-to-ear grin...that's me. Please wave back

I’m not and I’ve been out of warranty for some time now.

I just do routine maintenance to my 02 MCS every 6000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first and I’m still 100% problem free.

It also helps that I have a fantastic independent BMW/MINI mechanic with a shop only a mile from the house if a problem should arise. I don’t have to deal with a MINI dealer for anything or pay their outrageous prices for poor service along with a 600 mile trip to the nearest one.

Hi tig,

Actually, I'm from Palmdale, about 2 and half hours north. I found this car from Autotrader and this car is exactly what I was looking for. It was worth it to get one for a little long distance. Thanks for suggestion but I'll look for a little closer.
